President Nelson asked us all to fast for healing this Sunday. I don’t see his message anywhere

His invitation to fast was directed to all members of the Church as well as to friends of the Church.  I hope most of the world's population will be fasting and praying about this.  I'd like to see all of the commotion about this COVID thing go away as fast as possible.

Two meals usually.  If you want and can handle sunset to sunset, that would be the historic way to handle it (have dinner earlier the night before and dinner later the next day).  Most members I know time it to a meal after Sacrament Meeting, which might mean skipping dinner and breakfast.

How long are we supposed to fast for? Sunrise to sunset?

In the literature coming out that I’ve seen, they are saying a 24 hour fast.

Many years ago I felt dissatisfied with fasting for two meals because I was not hungry enough or sufficiently humble.  So I decided to fast for 40 HOURS (in remembrance of Jesus' and Moses' 40 DAY fasts).  I strongly believe that it benefits my digestive system by clearing out toxins.  And gives a wonderful rest for parts of my body.  I drink lots of water to discharge  waste materials.

I have a really hard time fasting but I’m gonna try, again.  We ate at 7 tonight and we will likely break our fast at 5 tomorrow. I’ll drink water to take me meds.

As King Benjamin said (going from memory), "Ye that have not, I would that ye would say in your hearts, 'Lord, I give not because I have not, but if I had, I would give.'"  Even if all we have to give seems like nothing more than the Widow's Mite, our sacrifice is acceptable to Him.  And it is very possible (even likely) that those who are going without food, nonetheless, are not keeping the fast in their hearts: "Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad. countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear. unto men to fast."  Matthew 6:16.

The Lord is mindful of, and appreciates, your sacrifice.  Godspeed and blessings to you both, and to all of yours. :)

Then just fast as much as you can. Breaking your fast because of the medication isn't really breaking it. IMHO. And what Kenngo said.

My daughter is similarly situated. She usually gives up her favorite food: chips.

That's exactly what I tell my sister. And that includes if one has to take medication with water, milk, a couple of biscuits or whatever.

No idea. Is there something especially good / bad about Canadian chips?

Are we talking about potato chips like we have here in the States, or is this more of a 'fish and chips' kind of thing where chips are actually more like french fries?

Either way if they have salt on them she would love them.

I have. But we went through them so quickly plus had a spill once opening them when someone forgot to put it in the pitcher first, my husband quickly went back to the usual.  Having a screw top keeps the milk from absorbing flavors where it being in a pitcher isn’t as air tight. Of course you could pour it out of a bag into a container with a screw top, but easier just to buy the jugs.

Yum, butter tarts.  You need lots of milk to go with these

You can get salt and vinegar chips now in the States, but it was purely Canadian when I first encountered them. Don’t remember seeing ketchup chips though.  Can’t stand dill pickle chips.

I miss Caramilk, that was always my preference at the Canadian store here in Provo...until I had to stop chocolate altogether.
