Do you wear "Sunday best" when you watch conference at home?

I am trying consciously to lower the dress standard in my ward for all Church meetings that are not part of the bloc or connected to it (Ward Council and Bishopric mostly).

One thing I liked about Narnia when I read about it as a child is their best clothing is their most comfortable clothing. People talk about going back in time and killing Hitler. I think I might go shoot Queen Victoria instead or whatever people fostered that culture. Victorianism is behind a lot of our cultural problems these days.

Church Announces New Pajama Policy For Those Attending LDS General Conference 

Salt Lake City, Utah – The church announced this morning that they were implementing a new pajama policy for those who are attending general conference. “We felt that it wasn’t fair for those who are attending General Conference to have to dress up while all of their friends and families sat comfortably in their pajamas at home.”

An attendee during the morning session of conference remarked, “Before the morning session, it was always hard scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed and seeing all of my friends relaxing in their pajamas while I was wearing a suit and tie. But now I am able to have the best of both worlds; being able to attend conference and still being comfortable.”
Another attendee said, “Being allowed to wear pajamas allows me to bring the best parts of my home to General Conference. Now if only they will allow us to bring in cinnamon rolls, we’d be set.”

Several members voiced concerned about individuals falling asleep during conference. When a spokesperson was pressed about this concern they told us that “it’s unclear as to how this policy change will affect the attentiveness of those attending conference but if we notice people falling asleep, we have a specially designed air horn for that scenario.”

I do remember reading once one of the prophets (David O. McKay?) had a habit of dressing nicely, combing his hair, etc before he would kneel to pray.  Can't remember where I read it.

A sign of respect I suppose.
I don't think we need Sunday dress, but a certain amount of respect might be warranted.

I sit up for prayers in my pajamas so I’m not in the reposed position.  I feel pretty respectful that way.

These days they have them archived on our website not too much longer after they have streamed live, but perhaps you like to have your own personal copy on your own computer just so you won't have to use the internet to get to it.

I've been considering waiting until they're all done and then just watch them during the evenings, like I usually do with the videos I watch on Amazon Prime.  I could get through them about as fast on a Tuesday and Wednesday rather than watching on Saturday, when I usually have a lot of work that I would like to get done on our property.

Whatever works for people. When I was studying in America, I had a member flatmate who stayed in his suit all day on Sundays. I thought he was nuts because he was ruining his best clothes, though of course I never said anything. Then one day he told me what a heathen I was for not wearing my 'Sunday best' all day. I laughed out loud. (And by the way, what level of sanctimony does it require to call out a flatmate on his Sabbath dress???)

They’re entitled to do so, but I don’t think their choice is binding on anybody else. 
 

I have in mind watching it at home, of course. I know that in some locales, it is the practice to go to a nearby meetinghouse and and gather with others to see the transmission. In that event, I do think it appropriate to dress up.

A lot depends on upbringing. We were admonished by our parents to change as soon as we got home and not “to lounge around” in our good Sunday clothes. 
 

I know of no authoritative admonition to remain dressed up at home all day on Sunday. It strikes me as zealotry.

Queen Victoria was a practitioner of “the royal ‘we’,” as in “we are not amused.”

So you, with your penchant for plural pronouns to refer to singular nouns, may have more in common with Queen Victoria than you realize.

I usually take off my coat and tie after church but everything else stays. I think I'm too lazy to change/too comfortable in suit pants.

Unless it's Priesthood session I view every session of General Conference as a reprieve sent from God for those of us who wear ties.

What do you wear to watch conference in your home?

Shorts and T shirt.

 

Wearing church attire while watching conference at home is heretical and psychotic.

Here is what they say about attending at the Conference center:
"Admission to the Conference Center is limited to those ages 8 or older for each session. No babies, please. Sunday dress is encouraged."

So even if you go in person you don't have to wear Sunday dress.

PJ's were the best with the kids, and their pile of goodies layin' on their bean bags/pillows wrapped in their blankets and cooking a nice breakfast, while listening. Or going on drives while listening, in our street clothes.

We watch it at home, wear our pajamas most of the time, sometimes our regular clothes. We have a tradition of strawberry waffles right before conference. All the children grandchildren watch the same way and enjoy strawberry waffles at their own homes. Fun family tradition.
