Popular Post VideoGameJunkie Posted April 10, 2016 Popular Post Posted April 10, 2016 In fact,I'm leaving all mormon message boards for good. I had a great meeting with my wonderful Bishop. A long meeting. He settled my issues I was worrying about for years. We also discussed my involvement in Mormon message boards and he worried that those boards might corrupt me and lead me to the point one day of turning in a church resignation letter. He could tell a lot of my spiritual troubles have come from message board viewing. He said much more on the subjects that I won't repeat but I respect him as my clergy who loves me and knows what's good for me. He even finally settled my mind on the topic of polygamy when no one else else could. So I just have to say it's been fun and goodbye to everyone. 6
Tacenda Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I'll miss you! I will miss the many topics you posted, and that you were allowed so many and some of what you said was accepted way more than from people like me. That tells me that the board believed you and you weren't trolling. I'm kind of jealous you had that talk with your bishop, if only. And that you have will power to leave all message boards, good luck kiddo!! And if you have withdrawals and come back, no harm no foul. You should feel free to do it. Don't be like a dieter and go on a diet over and over again. Or feel horrible for not sticking to it. Maybe just do things in moderation. But not talking you out of 'cold turkey'. Once again, good luck and take care!! 2
Jeanne Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I will miss you..who is going to ask all these questions for me??? But i wish you well. Here is hoping your life will be all you want it to be.. Just remember..we are not all bad people. Hugs and love, Jeanne I 2
bluebell Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Good bye and good luck! Seems like your bishop is a great guy and i'm glad your concerns were answered. 1

I am glad your bishop was able to do what this message board could not! You will be missed. You have a knack for beginning interesting threads. The thing about forums is that all kinds of influences are present, so it seems one needs a strong testimony to stay on the straight and narrow path since a message board is definitely a "dip" into the world - even on a largely LDS board such as this. However, Christ sends His sheep into the world. Just know that there are many here who love and respect you, and wish you all the best. Cheers friend. 1

Garden Girl Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Hello VGJ... Don't kid yourself... you will miss US, and maybe even go through some withdrawal... Don't let all the nice things we've said about you sway you from your resolve... it probably is best to follow your bishop's counsel because he had the ability to talk one on one with you... to hear your concerns, to see how you reacted, to "read" you, whereas that is not possible in this type of venue. I too wish you well... I encourage you to stay close to the Spirit by keeping a prayer in your heart. GG 2
Robert F. Smith Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Listen to your bishop and you can't go wrong. Even if his wife has some odd ideas. You're just getting started with life. Take it one step at a time. Be patient not only with others but with yourself. All the best, good buddy. 2
JLHPROF Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Well, I'll miss you VGJ. I'm sorry we weren't able to answer your questions as well as your Bishop. 1

But then what would we do for a "loyal opposition?" 22 minutes ago, JLHPROF said: Well, I'll miss you VGJ. I'm sorry we weren't able to answer your questions as well as your Bishop. I am sort of glad. SO many disparate voices with all and none of the answers. Just gals he has a great bishop that VDJ can trust. Hopefully he can or has obtained a spiritual confirmation also. Glenn
Stargazer Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 It's probably for the best, but I will miss your youthful questing! You are probably doing the best thing for yourself. If I were to quit this board, I'd suffer withdrawal! Although for about two months there, while I was concentrating on wooing my wife, I stayed away and it didn't hurt in the least! So maybe there is still some hope for me! May your life be valuable to you, and don't let anyone lead you astray!
Calm Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Post got lost earlier apparently...it is good to make changes in your life from time to time, too easy to get into ruts and just function on autopilot. Hope you find something great to feel the void. 1
saemo Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Great topics coming from you. Good luck with The Next Thing.
bsjkki Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 I am really happy you found answers to your questions. You must have a great Bishop. I'm trying to rebuild trust in my Priesthood leaders and reading positive experiences helps.
ALarson Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I will miss you, VGJ....you brought a smile to my face many times when I read your energetic posts and threads. You have such a youthful spirit and quest for truth. Good luck to you! I'm glad you have found some answers for what you've been searching for. Never stop learning. Your Bishop sounds like a great guy! Don't be a stranger though (it you choose to pop in occasionally just to say "hi" or let us know how you're doing, that would be great too ) 3
mtomm Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 VGJ, on to bigger and better things. Good luck. Godspeed. 2
VideoGameJunkie Posted April 12, 2016 Author Posted April 12, 2016 I just ordered the ancestry.com DNA kit test so I will return to post what the results are when I get them in about a month. Like I said I'm a test tube baby so it should be interesting learning new truth about me. So expect a return for that. 3

I--for one--am really interested to know what it tells you about your paternal side--at least as much as you are comfortable sharing. All the best. (P.S. I think your Bishop's counsel is spot-on and inspired.) 1

Guest Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I don't think message boards can corrupt, when someone is using them to know the opinions of others. But message boards of any kind should never take the place of prayer and scripture study. For any who seek out answers on any message boards as the final word on spiritual matters, then indeed they can and will corrupt. Having said that, if there is anything that might rob us of the Spirit and our ability to listen to that "still small voice", then anyone should flee, saying "get behind me Satan". In fact if someone felt petting little puppies could cause harm...same thing; flee! Good luck, and guard your testimony, and love of truth, always.
