She tells this story: Pres McKay was in the SLC temple and found a messed up bed when no one was around. So Jesus slept there. (Her teaching was that He is everywhere visiting all of his earths and creating new ones, without any sourcing.) Leaving aside the idea that Jesus wouldn't have been a good guest and made up any bed he borrowed, and leaving aside where this supposed bed in the temple might have been, has anyone who has heard this tale heard of an origin story?

Storm Rider Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 There are several stories of Jesus visiting temples or individuals in temples; however, I have never heard this particular tale. This sounds more like an object lesson rather than a desire to recount an actual story. Simply because I find the lid of the cookie jar on the counter does not make me think Jesus has paid a visit and eaten my cookies. Sometimes people are just too bloody liberal and demanding. It is as if no one has a concept of imagination any more.
JAHS Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I knew a security guard who worked nights at the Salt Lake Temple and claimed he sometimes saw a light coming from the Holy of Holies room when no one else was supposed to be there.He was told it was probably Jesus visiting His temple.

I remember back when I first joined the church a missionary told me the veil between this life and the next runs thin in the temple, and that you can sometimes get a vision of the spirit world while inside. Isn't there some stories of prophets in the early church talking to Jesus in visible form while in the temple?

Also when he arose from the dead in scripture his burial cloths were neatly folded.

(Sorry; I know I should joke about this sort of thing, but for cryin' out loud, something that ridiculous deserves nothing than more ridiculousness in response!) Having said that, perhaps I should take my own advice: I don't think anyone necessarily actually saw this (or recorded it if they did -- I doubt any of the extant accounts go into such detail), but personally, I love the scene in Lamb of God in which the apostles peer into the tomb and see the grave clothes folded, as though Christ said, "OK, it's time to get up now" (toward the end of the third segment). I like the "spirit world" scene, too. Both of those scenes get to me every time I watch it. I don't believe He drops in to take a nap. That's a silly urban myth.I also don't believe He comes to earth for no reason such as in the Holy of Holies story above. Unless He was there to speak to a mortal there would be no point. 1

Not buying the cafeteria and bed story. Seriously, heaven has comfier beds and better food. Why stay the night here? In 3 Nephi you notice he bugged out every night and came back in the morning. 1

Unfortunately he wasn't having the nicest dream because he jerked awake swearing a stream as long as your arm in the middle of the endowment.... But maybe that's just an urban tale too. 1

Well, he didn't seem to have time to straighten up the tomb after he woke up, so maybe it's just something he does? John 20:4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.

I think that the witness that I have and the witness that each of us has, and the details of how it came, are too sacred to tell. Packer, CR, April 2014) Brethren and sisters, I have cherished from childhood the truth that God is a personal being and is, indeed, our Father whom we can approach in prayer and receive answers thereto. My testimony of the risen Lord is just as real as Thomas', who said to the resurrected Christ when he appeared to his disciples: "My Lord and my God." (John 20:28.) I know that he lives. (David O.
