Scott dies at 86. SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Richard G. Scott died Tuesday, Sept. 22 at his home surrounded by family, officials with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed. A member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Scott died due to causes incident to age, the church said. He was 86. In April 2015, he was hospitalized due to gastrointestinal bleeding and after his release the church said he had "experienced a fading memory incident due to age, and is not fully able to participate in meetings of the Quorum of the Twelve at this time." Elder Scott had served in the capacity of apostle since the late President Ezra Taft Benson extended the call on Sept. 29, 1988. KevinG Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I believe we are witnessing the death of the greatest generation reflected in the loss of these Apostles. It will be fascinating who is called to pick up the mantle and continue serving in the capacity of Prophet, Seer, and Revelator.

He was nice enough, but never left a big impression. Then I met my future wife and we began discussing a life together. April Conference 1999 we were each fasting about the decision. My wife received her confirmation during Elder Scott's address. Since then he's been a favorite. 5

Then I met my future wife and we began discussing a life together. April Conference 1999 we were each fasting about the decision. My wife received her confirmation during Elder Scott's address. Since then he's been a favorite. He did have a sort of hypnotic effect when he spoke. My sister sang in the Tabernacle choir for a while and she told me that his instructions to the cameramen were to always have him looking into the camera the entire time he was speaking. IIRC, the tabernacle has three camera angles. Whenever they switched cameras, he turned directly to face the camera, always looking straight into it. 1
