It is interesting that by his own doctrine, he shouldn't have the priesthood.  He says that the "Black race" doesn't have access to the priesthood and any of the "White race" that intermingles with it also looses access to the priesthood.  Since the "Black race" has been around since before Adam, in the 6,000+ years since Adam, it is guaranteed that all of us are descended from this "Black race".  So all of us, including him, shouldn't have access to the priesthood.  He thinks he is "pure White race", but he only needs to go back a few thousand years in his ancestry and he'll find "Black race" ancestry.

Maybe it's just because I'm especially thick-headed, but I'd like to include "not plain unto the children of men" in the obvious discrepancies between this verse and Shiloh's amazingly complicated position on race.

"Plain and precious things" become conspicuous by their absence.

Oh man, it was not BY that started it. I bet most white supremacists worldwide are clueless about him.  You think Hitler was a fan of Discourses of Brigham Young?  The Confederate War was started by those Mormons?  
 

Sure, Saints have their own flavour that riffed off the original version and he didn’t help, but we would have them even if the Ban hadn’t happened, just as so many other denominations do. 
 

Brigham had his faults, but he accepted blacks as children of God.

Are you going to delete them?  People put a lot of effort into responding and it feels wrong to chuck them, but also seems wrong to allow this in print, to give him the ability to point to how he took on a whole group of sinners, etc. who took him seriously enough to listen until their blind eyes could not bear the light anymore. But it is also important to show the faults of this kind of thinking…though his is a version no one else seems to be accepting by his own admission.

To be fair, I never took him seriously and my blind eyes were scorched from the beginning.  A self proclaimed fundamentalist prophet defaming the true prophet of God, and suggesting that the vaccines are the mark of the beast?  I mean, racist white supremacy was a natural next step as a fundamentalist.  I tried to point this out and he vociferously denied it at first, but  was able to milk it out of him as it was too painful for him to hide his true colors.

I stopped reading his stuff early on when, after saying he wasn’t campaigning for the office of President  of the Church, he said the first thing he’d do if he became President was change tithing.

When I pointed out that he sounded like a politician trying to gain support by promising to cut taxes, he down-voted my comment.  I was done with him at that point...I have very thin skin. 😎
