It said that while most members probably get it on their phones or devices, he wants only paper copies to be used during the broadcast. And, he will explain why as part of the broadcast. That makes quite a difference. Sounds like it's merely a matter of him wanting everyone to have a copy of it. Paper copies are a lot less expensive to hand out than smartphones. I don't see any reason to conclude from this that the Church president is against reading or carrying or referring to electronic copies. 3

When the EMP hits and takes out all the electronics, people will need to be able to possess and use real books again. Perhaps classes in turning pages will be required. 2

Then he could teach the principle of not being commanded in all things and how they need to learn to follow their conscience and be accountable for their actions.

I suspect President Nelson is worried that the youth will be more interested in Facebook likes and Tweets, than in listening to what he has to say.

I'm guessing you also think that a person who burns themselves when using a stove isn't accountable for that burn if the company that manufactured the stove didn't clearly disclose in writing that the stove gets hot and can burn people.
