Thoughts on new First Presidency?

Any thoughts on the next First Presidency since Conference is upon us?

I'm thinking Pres Eyring may get to rest now. And Elder Holland isn't well and will likely remain the new Elder Ballard.

I'm expecting Bednar and possibly Andersen or Rasband.

I think Pres. Erying will remain and become 1st Counselor.

I think (and hope) Elder Bednar will be brought in as 2nd Counselor.

If not Bednar, I think Elder Cook will be tapped. They've used him several times to make announcements, like they were prepping him for more responsibility.

I was not happy with Pres Oaks at first. But a memory of a few years ago came to mind, of a Gospel Doctrine teacher that rubbed me the wrong way and was cocky while teaching. But then he was called to be the bishop, and I was not looking forward to him being bishop. But he turned out to be one of my favorite bishops actually. It humbled him and he was awesome to work with, especially for my husband who was a scout leader and needed things to be okay'd as far as scout trips etc. And he officiated my daughter's wedding and did a pretty good job.

So I'm hoping Pres Oaks will be different too.

I'm imagining Elder Gong as a counselor in the First Presidency and well, who knows as the new Apostle

An Englishman, then a Frenchman... 🤔 I like where you're going with this.

I think Pres. Eyring will stay put.  There’s a chance that two additional counselors may be called.  As you know, three counselors is not unprecedented

I told me husband that I thought it was going to be Bednar and Elder Gong or Elder Soares.  As far as a new apostle, I have no idea.  I admit that I never pay much attention at all to the names of the speakers and honestly couldn't even tell you who the presiding bishop or any of the 70 are.

Great minds think alike!

I'm really looking forward to the day when we have a less overachieving First Presidency.  It's really difficult for parents to encourage their kids by telling them that "someday you'll grow up to be the prophet" if the kids first have to become a brilliant heart surgeon, college president, a member of a state supreme court, or earn a PhD from Harvard.

I put in my name for consideration.

How cool that would be! The first apostle with a number name!

If it adheres to recent behavior, it will include Elder Holland who is next in line for Presidency.   It's been several presidencies ago when one of the prophets spoke about how hard it is to be put in that position without some experience.   The challenge is that neither Elder Holland nor next in line Elder Eyring (who has also had presidency training already) can travel because of their health.  And First Presidency travel is important in our world where half of our members live outside the US.     Elder Uchtdorf is next but he already has had some training in the Presidency.

Did you notice that they had to go deep to Elder Bednar for the Michigan shooting/fire response?

Y'all are crazy. Why would any of you want to be the equivalent to a CEO of a multinational company? But instead of employees you are managing volunteers, and have to also live a virtuous, pious life or the entire organization will be negatively impacted by your uninspired decision making. Crazy, crazy people on this forum. Let me see if I can find a few Bishop or Mission President openings and then if you like those we can readdress your petition? :)

Many years ago I thought about what it would take for me to become President of the Church.  There was a clear, albeit improbable, path:  If all the other men in the Church died, then I could theoretically become President.

My first act would be to ordain women to the Priesthood.

Then, I would retire.

Alas, I am now too far out of the loop for that plan to still be viable.

I'd go with Elder Michael Teh or Edward Dube or possibly Takashi Wada or possibly Marvin Pennyworth from Flagstaff Ariz.

Anyone who “actually” vies for a leadership position at church deserves to have one. 💯

Would that require a change in the Church's approach to weed ? 😈

I think you mean, "Doo-Vay"🫠

Deserves, yes, but often the membership don’t deserve them, imo
