Regardless of carbon dating, you truly believe that if you dug up a grave of someone who lived before Christ's resurrection and their bones are still there, that this person was too evil to be of the resurrection of the just? There are several problems with this idea.

Yes.  Or in other words, just not good enough.

Quote

First, nobody can be resurrected until they are judged.

Which judgement are you talking about?  The one which determines which part of the spirit world their spirit is sent to state of the spirit world they experience before being resurrected... spirit prison or paradise the good state or bad state?  Righteous spirits don't go to spirit prison experience the bad state of the spirit world, the bad place, except to minister to those who are sent there experience the bad state, because those in paradise the good state at least accepted the gospel even if they did not receive the ordinances by those with authority to administer them.

Quote

Nobody can be judged before they have had the opportunity to hear the gospel, either in life or in the Spirit World, and then baptized, either physically or by proxy.

You might want to reread Alma 40:11-13.  And you also might want to find out what gramps has to say about this: https://askgramps.org/determines-spirit-sent-spirit-prison-paradise/

That's enough for me, for now.

Babies, too? So, all the dead babies who died before the Resurrection of Christ whose bones were dug up by archaeologists were all evil?

I'm talking about the final judgement, not the interim judgement between Paradise and the Spirit Prison.

Cannot those who go to Spirit Prison repent and eventually be part of the resurrection of the just? Or is the interim judgment the final judgment?

Gramps can believe what he wants, and so can you. But you cannot convince me that just because a person's bones hasn't disappeared he or she was evil in life. For the various reasons I gave, I cannot be convinced that all of the molecules that were once part of my body must be restored to me upon resurrection. Just today, my wife and I had a conversation, and we shared many atoms between us. Who's going to sort out which ones are mine and which ones are hers in the resurrection?

Alma 40:11-12 says nothing about the final destination after all mortals have had the chance to hear the gospel.

Do you actually know of any or are you just supposing there are some baby bones from that time period who haven't been resurrected yet?

I agree that people who haven't been resurrected yet haven't received their final judgment but it doesn't take a final judgement to determine whether someone is righteous or evil.

Yes those who are or were evil before death can repent in the spirit world and then no longer be evil, but if when they died they were evil and they died before our Lord's resurrection, then they would not have been qualified to be resurrected with the righteous at our Lord's resurrection.

How about all of your best molecules that you ever had while living your life?  If you lost one of your arms while living your life, for example, then you would get your best arm molecules when you are resurrected vs not getting your arm molecules back.

And then on top of that, not only would you be gettin g your best arm molecules back, but they would be upgraded to even better than you ever had before.  But no extra arms.  You would only get 2 arms.

Evil-Thwarting 'Rattles' Found in Prehistoric Infant's Grave

"Tiny figurines that may have been used as rattling toys or charms to ward off evil spirits were discovered in the grave of an infant dating back 4,500 years, archaeologists say.

"The burial was discovered on the northwest shore of Lake Itkul in the Minusinsk basinin Russia. The infant's remains, which were found in what appears to be a birchbark cradle, suggest he or she was less than a year old at death."

Either the baby was evil, or was resurrected without its bones. Or was not resurrected yet. Take your pick. And this is by far and away not the only ancient infant skeleton ever discovered.

I believe you and I are in agreement on this point. I do wonder what qualifies one to be assigned to Spirit Prison vs Paradise, since all of us are sinners.

So you believe that everyone who was in Paradise when Christ was resurrected, was resurrected at the same time as Christ?

And yet we have DC 138, which tells us that during Christ's brief stay in the Spirit World he organized his missionary forces from among those who were dead but in Paradise, and these were the ones who were sent to minister to and teach those in Spirit Prison.

28 And I wondered at the words of Peter — wherein he said that the Son of God preached unto the spirits in prison, who sometime were disobedient, when once the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah—and how it was possible for him to preach to those spirits and perform the necessary labor among them in so short a time.
29 And as I wondered, my eyes were opened, and my understanding quickened, and I perceived that the Lord went not in person among the wicked and the disobedient who had rejected the truth, to teach them;
30 But behold, from among the righteous, he organized his forces and appointed messengers, clothed with power and authority, and commissioned them to go forth and carry the light of the gospel to them that were in darkness, even to fall the spirits of men; and thus was the gospel preached to the dead.

If everyone in Paradise had been resurrected upon Christ's resurrection, then Christ's missionaries who were sent to minister to those in Spirit Prison had less than three days to do their work before "poof" they were gone, too. Leaving no missionaries left to teach anyone, including new arrivals. What about those in Paradise who knew nothing about Christ, because they had been born in China in 20 BC? Did they instantly convert to Christianity as soon as Christ arrived in Paradise?  How many billions of people had died by 33 AD that had to be taught? And how long would it take? I don't know, but if every single soul in Paradise got resurrected after the Resurrection then who was left to teach all the new arrivals who died after 33 AD?

You have been replaced. None of the materials you were born with are still with you; they've been exchanged for new materials. Almost no cell in your body which was in your body 10 years ago, is still there now. Almost all of your infant brain cells are still there, but many more are new. Most of your cells are only a year old, at most. Their broken-down materials are partly used to manufacture new cells, and partly excreted in your urine, respiration or sweat. Much of what you eat is used to make new cells. Which ones will you get back in the resurrection? What about those billions of blood cells that you won't need in the resurrection? Because you won't have blood.

And what about all those billions of one-celled organisms in your gut, that are not strictly speaking part of you? Do you get them back, or not? You won't need them in any case.

I'm just trying to debunk the idea that you are resurrected with the same materials that your body was made of during its mortal life. And which molecules were your "best", anyway? One hydrogen atom looks like every other hydrogen atom.

Why couldn’t resurrected missionaries be present there?  It does seem implied only spirit bodies can be present because of waiting for Christ for the missionary work to begin, but maybe that was necessary because of authority. Keys needed to be given. Maybe there are ordinances that are part of the work there.

That's an interesting thought. Resurrected beings of course have an eternal body and a spiritual body in one, so perhaps the spiritual part could be present there while the eternal body is not? Can they be separated like that? I sure don't know. But I think that it is unlikely, since we have a material body and a spiritual body in one, yet none of us are called to go there in spirit -- except temporarily in dreams and visions. If that comparison holds any water, which, again I don't know.

But we're not told everything. On some matters we can only extrapolate from the few clues we're given.

Don't know, really. But we're already made of star dust! :)  According to physicists, the Universe at the Big Bang started with only hydrogen, helium and lithium present. Everything else was cooked up inside stars, with elements heavier than iron being cooked up inside supernovas.

I don’t believe the Spirit world is a different dimension or whatever.  I think it is more a variation in awareness.  Our eyes are not currently capable on their own to perceive spirit matter, but resurrected bodies would be able to.  Spirit bodies would be able to at least perceive the spirit elements of a resurrected body, so they could interact.

We have no idea. This is pure speculation. But logically, if a resurrected body could interact with post-mortal spirits, Christ had no need to organize his forces and send them out to teach the spirits in either Paradise or Spirit Prison. He could simply resurrect all those who were ready and send them out. Yet nothing is said about this. The thing is, the SW is an extension of mortality. It seems that all principles of mortality remain in force, with the exception of corporality. There is free agency and sociality, there is teaching, learning, faith, hope and charity. There is also conversion and repentance. But the veil of forgetfulness also remains. If the Lord sends no resurrected beings here to teach and do His work among us, relying solely upon us mortals for all that, why would He send them to the SW?

What would happen if resurrected beings suddenly showed up here and started teaching all of mankind? You know very well that the first thing to happen would be some petty tyrant dictator, such as Kim Jong Un, would attempt to assassinate one. This would fail, and it would cause serious damage to the ambiguity required for operation of true faith. Why else does God not send angels openly to the earth?

The same thing should apply to the Spirit World.

And this is why I am convinced that resurrected beings are not involved with missionary work in the Spirit World.

But the beauty of this discussion is that we don't know, nor do we have need to know. Ahab can continue to believe with all his heart that people whose bones are still buried under the ground were all sent to Spirit Prison because they were evil. It does no harm.

It's fun to speculate and argue good-naturedly about, though.

That's why I quoted Alma 40:11-13.  We are all judged immediately after we die and then we either experience a happy state of being or we are miserable...it's been made clear to me that it's more about our state of being than the place where we go.

All molecules are used.  There are no brand spanking new molecules that were just now created. Hmm, oops, wait a minute, maybe it's only the quarks that are eternal but not the atoms. Anyway, what I mean is that it is the latest and greatest version of ourselves... our spirit as well as our mortal body...  that we had at the moment of our death... that we get back when we are resurrected, and then that mortal body is upgraded to an immortal body while given a few enhancements.  We have the technology to make ourselves better than we were.  And it won't cost us no stinkin 6 million dollars.

I call mine I or me... reproduces more of myself to make more of me while getting rid of the older parts, on a micro level.  And what we eat is only used as fuel to make more of ourselves, otherwise the more cow we eat or drink the more cow we would be, and the more vegetables we eat or drink would make us more into vegetables, so that we wouldn't be 100% our own kind of being anymore.

Some of my Sunday School teachers from my youth testified that we (the youth) would be alive to see the second coming. I'm not sure what the attraction is to making claims like this since we are told that nobody knows (Matthew 24:36).

I personally haven't heard anybody make a claim like this in a long time, so I thought it was almost weird that this teacher would make that claim.

For 2000 years so many Christians have been thinking Jesus was coming any time now. Heck Paul believed it. Sorry to disappoint. He likely isn't coming back.

Of course, and physical interaction with mortals in mortality requires resurrected beings, as you say, for passing on of keys because they need bodies to do it. But they don't routinely show up to minister, nor especially to work in public, for the reasons I gave. As far as passing on of keys, Christ handled that in the Spirit World himself, and thus there is no need for angelic ministration there -- at least on a routine basis or in public. I can't say whether or not it is done, naturally!

She made it clear that she meant that He would return before she left this mortal probation.

I think we can always find opportunities to judge whether people are using good judgement in sharing their convictions on a particular non-essential point, and that these convictions can change as the Lord shares more light and knowledge as the particular point becomes essential (individually and collectively).
