I remember when my seminary teacher made a ridiculous and unfounded claim that we were in the "midnight hour of the sixth seal".

As it relates to the six seals, an hour is many, many, years. So maybe not so ridiculous?

If a day to the Lord is 1000 years here then an hour is about 42 years and the half hour of silence in heaven at the beginning of the seventh seal is 21 years.
If the same ratio were to be applied.

It also explains why Methuselah topped out under 1000 years because the curse dictates in Genesis 2:17 that we must die in the same day and Abraham 5:13 clarifies this is according to the Lord's/Kolob's time (1 day = 1000 years).
Imagine - using Kolob time God can have a new earth from creation to resurrection every week.

Can I get an exact date of the first seal opening? Shouldn't be too hard to pinpoint.

Zion isn't a country. It's more a people.

I look at it as more of a national park (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist).

Badum-pssssssssh!  [That's a rimshot, in case you're wondering ... ;) ]  Yes, it is a National Park, and that National Park is God's Country.  ;) :D

Having been reading and buying books on the topic of both, “prophecy and the second coming”,  I have read and learned much, from the age of 12-13 years of age. Also due my fascination with this topic, and all of the doctrine and scripture surrounding it, I chose this topic for the first sermon I ever preached, at Westside Baptist Church, in Glenfield, GA. It now seems like 1,000 very long ago. During that time I was stationed in the Army (Fort Stewart, GA), and we were living in that small town. When I called my Mother and  told her of my topic, she made a joke, or repeated one; “The only Pastors who chose this topic, are young Preachers and fools”. :) When I into the Church, and due to our added scriptures, and our living Prophets and Apostles, my belief and interest in, “prophecy and the second coming”, only intensified. Due to the our (my) knowledge of “continuing revelation”, I purchased many new books, maybe 30-50 more books. All in search of greater answers, and a better understanding of all things, about the second coming, and so much more. It was if I had crawled through a burning desert with no water, and need to drink in all the water upon the earth'

With every book, written by the.”average joe” or, “Evangelical Pastors“, or “BYU Professors”, as well as “well respected  LDS authors”, and most certainly all “General Authorities”, or unknown others. Most if not all, each author made certain! To quote the same scripture, “No man knoweth the hour or the day, of the coming of the Son of Man...”. Then each would go on to list all of the many prophecies, and the many scriptures that applied too, or pointed too, everything that would point to a “best, or better  guess, than any than all other authors”. Not every author, the message more humble we happy to give credit to other authors, to quote their findings. I will point out, I do and did love learning all f what the books had to offer.

It's only ever a guess based on what God has revealed.  Anyone who wants to pick a date is certainly wrong.  I think that's why many member pendulums have swung in the other direction and so many are of the opinion we're nowhere close.  Even if that contradicts scripture.  They just don't want to be seen as guessing a date so they claim we have ages to go.

That said, Joseph did teach that God would reveal it to his servants the prophets.
