Here is an article about Melanie Gibb, the friend who finally told her story in May about what she knew of Chad and Lori's religious beliefs and activities.  She has written a seven page letter.  I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but wanted to make sure others here knew about it.  Her letter was posted last night on AVOW, but she also gave it to East Idaho news.  She wanted to warn others who may have believed the stuff Chad was promoting.  She said her 'heart is so broken'...

Thanks Alter! I noticed Roger K. Young's name at AVOW. Pretty sure it's the same Roger Young that my MIL had a copy of him speaking on cassette and gave to all of her children. I listened, kind of, way back when, in the 80's. It could be why when we recently cleared out my 91 year old MIL's house, she's now in a retirement community, that she and my FIL were prepared for everything under the sun.

Some of their major food storage included diesel fuel in heavy duty containers, coal in the barn and another semi full that is buried in their yard, we kid that it may be diamonds now. And so much wheat, along with cans and cans of...you name it, and my husband and I even found coffee, haha. They had a huge room in the basement that was filled and they spent a whole lot of money on freeze dried food as well. It was divvied out among all 8 children and their spouses. 

I also noticed that they AVOW sold silver. Might be where my in-laws got all of their silver, it was split up as well, it sure came in handy. I'm appreciative, I really am. But I wonder if they'd gone to all of that trouble had they not listened to people like Roger Young.

That Roger Young did indeed start AVOW iirc. Not sure if he is still connected, getting royalties or just sold it to Parrott. 
 

I read one of his books on the clearance shelf when it was a slow day at the church related bookstore I worked at in 2002. It had a section on the horrors of Y2K. You would have thought people would have question his ability to predict disasters. He made a living off of preaching fear imo disguised as preparedness.  What a sad legacy to be known for.

That's sure interesting about your Husband's family.  I also have a couple of books by Roger K. Young from the 90's :    "Behold the fig tree' and 'The Bridegroom cometh' (I think that's the titles) that my MIL bought and later, passed on to me to read.  But, since she didn't want to keep the books, I don't know how much she was impacted by his message.  I thought they were interesting, but was skeptical of some of his sources and his message was not compelling for me.  One thing, he was completely wrong on Y2 K.  But, there's no question he's had an influence on the LDS prepper community for about 40 years.  I believe he is the original source for the tent cities belief that's morphed into differing versions.  He's not involved with AVOW anymore.  He sold it to Christopher Parrett many years ago when he was called into a Bishopric, and over the years Parrett has turned it into a  lucrative business, peddling all things for prepping/visions/dreams etc.  And Parrett has ruled with a paranoid iron fist, silencing voices that questioned his views or dared voice criticism or questions of those that were making money for him on his site.

Not to derail, but Roger K. Young is still very involved with AVOW. There are 19 discussion threads on AVOW so far this month started by Roger. He is one of the most active participants and has been for the last 10-12 years.

I was wondering if it was at all possible for you to give me the rights of the books. I understand that you are busy but I have paid you off last fall and I have not seen any royalties since last year.

I have had a deep respect for you and have thought that you were following the spirit but in the past few years I think that deception has crept in.

I do not agree with what you are publishing. I have come to the understanding that what you are publishing is false.

I understand that you don’t agree and you might just think I am being spiteful or jealous in some way. That is further from the truth, but in the end, truth will prevail and the truth of all things will be shown to those who are true and faithful.

I know without a shadow of a doubt what you are preaching will not lead to happiness. It will lead to death and sorrow.

Daybell responded two days later, saying he was sorry Freeman had “bitter feelings” toward him and agreed to return her publishing rights. The two communicated via email for several months but Freeman said she never got the rights back.

Freeman recalls telling friends that Daybell’s beliefs were dangerous but she had forgotten about the blunt warning she said to him in the message until this week.

“It was a hard email for me to read. I’ll be honest,” Freeman says. “Maybe I thought I was being overdramatic just so I could get my rights back. I didn’t think Chad would be a killer. I figured people would follow what was predicted and then people would die because of the false predictions.”

Freeman held out hope that Joshua “JJ” Vallow and Tylee Ryan would be found alive. When she saw EastIdahoNews.com confront Daybell and his wife, Lori Vallow Daybell, in Hawaii in January, she had a bad feeling about the children but never suspected their bodies would be recovered in Daybell’s backyard.

She now looks back on her email message three years ago and wishes somehow Daybell would have taken her words to heart.

“For me to see this, I feel like maybe I could have stopped it if he would have just listened to me,” Freeman says.

Melani is the niece of Lori Cox (it seems a slap in the face to Charles to call her Vallow and to Tammy to call her Daybell, I might start just calling her Lori Cox as the Lori seems too friendly).  Lori was something of a mother figure to her and as you read her statement there is no suggestion that Lori has done anything wrong...or Melani for that matter. Her family has been betrayed (what family is that, the one you made with your uncle, Chad Daybell and Lori and Alex Cox and finally Ian Pawlowski and Zulema Pasterne sp? or your original one with your dad and your kids and Brandon until you got tangled up with the Coxes and then in Chad and others’ fringe paranoid beliefs?).

And let’s first make clear Tylee would be the first to pooh pooh all the drama...therefore everyone needs to ignore anything they hear from media.  Foolish, silly nonsense drama.  Tylee rolling her eyes...in her grave in Daybell’s backyard.

Tylee so not into drama...guess her mom kept her share along with Tylee’s money because that is where all the drama is coming from, Cox ate up Daybell’s hogwash and then took on the role of his messenger handmaid mistress, spreading his delusions and fantasies as gospel truth.  
 

Melani comes across as yet again trying to wave her hands in distraction, convincing us that there is nothing to see here, but a loving and devoted, normal family now torn apart by vague betrayers.  Will that be Uncle Chad having duped wonderful, perfect mom, Aunt Lori or someone more like evil Kay setting Lori up; totally irrational that Kay would go so far as to kill JJ and Tylee, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Lori goes all eye for an eye claim making out Kay as hiring a hit man to get even with Lori for taking her brother Charles.  Not a custody battle, but a vendetta and the kids being dead proves she is right...Kay will do anything!
 

Well, that speculation is likely too far out there...I really hope.  She just set me off with her sweetness and light routine.
 

 Best if Lori and Chad confess but Chad seems to have chosen to play victim instead. Who will be the villain of his piece since now he can’t just pretend nothing happened, or that he was clueless, not with bodies exposed and him rabbitting when the exposure took place, I wonder?  Alex or is that too close given what motive would Alex have that didn’t involve Chad giving to him, even if through Lori.

I wonder if Melani is in denial about the children, this was so strange, it sounds more like she wrote it when the children were still missing. It also came off as revolving around her and her family's best interests, calling out the 'negativity"?  It's like she refuses to even think about the fact that Lori's children were found murdered and their bodies buried in her new husband's back yard!  Lori and Chad, who refused to answer where the children were, who had to be brought back to Idaho, who lied about this being a 'custody case' to their friends.  Who still refuse to explain themselves.  I think Melani would have been smarter to have not said anything.

Tylee and JJ's bodies were found buried in Chad's back yard Tuesday June 9th, after which he was arrested and jailed.  If you look back in the thread around the 9th or 10th, you'll find links to news reports and us discussing it.

And it is reported that while he sat alone in his car for hours outside his home, when he saw they found the remains, he jackrabbited.  I don’t know if he had decided just to endure it in the car till arrested because it was better than waiting with his kids looking at their faces wondering why and then when finding out the why (bodies of two dead kids) suddenly staring at him in horror or staring anywhere but him as it dawned on them slowly or not so slowly depending on how in shock they were that he probably killed their mother. 
 

But whether he just couldn’t face the moment when it came and took off or that was the plan all along, he is truly arrested and sitting on his bum not being able to phone chat with his mistress/now wife daily as they have been reported to be doing. 
 

His lawyer of course is saying he was turning himself in as he had decided earlier. Got to wonder why he felt it was necessary to rapidly drive downtown rather than just walk back to the officers walking towards him.

Melani can claim Cox told her Tylee was at school or staying with friends and that JJ was with Kay. Now explaining that she hadn’t a clue about what Cox really believed when there was serious alone time between the two...and what was Cox doing there?  Melani would likely know that as Cox would have explained why she was going when inviting Melani to come along.

That was hard to watch. "She needs help." He was so rational. He came back into town. She took his truck from the airport. Cleaned out $35,000 from their bank account. He says she is irrational and has mental issues. He's worried about the kids. He's dead. The kids are dead. It's just so tragic.

Did I forget the mother's sashaying into and out of court with bright red lipstick made out of a jolly rancher and coloured pencil?  Or the stash of money kept in a ziplock bag found when she was arrested.  Or the sweet service dog of her young, autistic son up for a few thousand bucks as soon as Dad was dead...the one that kept him from wandering the house and outside at night, Mom's giggle and apology to the neighbourhood for having a killing in their home just after moving in (hey, could happen to anyone!) followed by a pool party that afternoon, telling his sons their dad died by sending a text and saying it was of a heart attack instead of a bullet (think that was the excuse) and instead of sending his expensive watch collection so they had something to remember him by, that goes missing and they get a few Walmart variety fine quality time pieces.  What a piece of work...

Beauty pageants and Wheel of fortunes, portals in the closet, deaths of 10,000 zombies in one afternoon's work...finding out one's brother is dead because the body is unclaimed, but not the life insurance; wife finding out after killing her other husband she isn't getting the million dollar life insurance policy...

Then there is the LDS specific stuff like secret meetings in the temple, being sealed by Moroni himself (before the death of their spouses) as Lori is his favourite wife just like she is Chad's favourite wife (which is good since they were married 5 times already in previous lives).

The other video was the hardest thing for me to watch or read yet though I have yet to watch the full police interview right after Charles' death.  Made me physically ill for an hour or two.  So many " if only".  He was trying so hard to do what was right by his family and employees as well as not be a burden to the police.  He comes across as someone who feels they are responsible for others and is not trying to avoid that responsibility or make excuses.  Dang, starting to cry again.

 Not sure if I am going to watch this as I don't see the need at this point to try and figure out what happened...I think that is pretty clear and if I am wrong, that likely won't come out until the trial.

But who knows, my curiosity may get the better of my wisdom.
