This change pertains to all baptisms outside the temple. A proxy baptism for a deceased person may be witnessed by anyone holding a current temple recommend, including a limited-use temple recommend. Any endowed member with a current temple recommend may serve as a witness to sealing ordinances, living and proxy. Cool stuff. -Smac 5

I want clarification on recording ordinances in temple. Still has to be an adult? An adult male? In any case this is neat. We can invite more adult sisters to come and they can participate beyond passing out towels. With the youth able to witness you only need four Melchizedek Priesthood if I understand right (three for confirmations and one to record baptisms). It is also wonderful to let mom and/or older siblings serve as witnesses during living baptisms. It was also a clever clarification. The scripture says “persons” must witness. I wonder if women will be able to be a recorder? all you do, as you know, is tick a box with a red pencil, hardly priesthood is needed for that, maybe next time! 4

You also have to carefully line up the card to make sure the baptizer can see it and you have the button to turn it on and off. It is a tough job. No need to give women priesthood if the priesthood isn't needed to perform what used to be priesthood functions. I'm kind of curious why people would be excited about something like this yet still be opposed to women having the priesthood. I would think that there would be a requirement to make sure the witnesses are trained on what a proper baptism procedure is both in the words and acts. 1

I like the statement, "Adjustments [the form of godliness] allow for covenants to be planted in the hearts [the power thereof] of people living in different times and circumstances."
