Who's Your Personal Favorite Prophet?

I know all prophets are important, but who has always touched you in a way no one else has. For me, my favorite prophet is Thomas S Monson. He's so powerful, smart, funny, and sweet. He's so cute too. I've lived through Ezra Taft Benson, Howard W. Hunter, Gordon B. Hinckley, and Thomas S Monson.

I joined in 1979, so I lived through many more...those since being a member; GBH, loved his humor!

I don't really have favorites of really anything because depending on the circumstances lots of things are my favorite. But I've felt a connection to Presidents Kimball, Hunter and Hinckley more often. If I am reading talks or the one time my daughter and I talked in person with him while waiting in line I really like President Monson, I just don't relate to his giving a talk style.

My favorite Prophet.........   hmmmmmm   Peter... despite all his weakness and even denying the Christ he was beloved by the son of God.

For different similar reasons = George Albert Smith.  To me his dealing with severe depression is an encouragment to each of us with weakness (which is all of us)

I feel like President Hinckley had the biggest impact. I lived through part of the time of President's Kimball and Benson's tenure but by the time I was old enough to pay attention in Conference President Benson was ill and President Hinckley was in charge with a brief stopover for President Hunter. I still find it odd that President Monson has taken over. I have a hard time getting anything from President Monson's talks.

I think the reason I sometimes forget President Hinckley is dead is he still sporadically calls me on the phone and asks me to go back to the Mission field. Of course this is in my dreams which makes it much less interesting.

I'd have to say Hinckley, but mostly because of his long tenure in the first presidency. I did like Kimball at the time. I do like Monson's focus on the Savior and on loving our neighbors.

I agree... each has their own strengths... David O. McKay was the prophet of my youth... my folks loved Howard W. Hunter (I was inactive for so many years that I missed most of the more recent ones).  I loved Hinckley... Monson is wonderful also... like Rodheadlee said, do I really have to choose?

I know you said not to choose Joseph Smith, but I don't think I have any choice.

His teachings, position, and frankly, pretty much everything, put him in a league of his own in this dispensation.

I may like other prophets (Young, Taylor, Woodruff, Fielding Smith, Hunter for instance) but Joseph Smith IS the greatest prophet of our time.

Heaving back into scriptural times - probably Peter, Brother of Jared, Mosiah...

I like Lao Tzu the best. He was just minding his own business and leaving the kingdom, and some random guard was like, "You need to record your wisdom!", so Lao Tzu was like, "Fine, whatever. Here's the Tao Te Ching. Bye!"

Lin-chi I-hsüan's cool too, and the customary Aleister Crowley.
