Boanerges Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Does Elder Holland count? He is sustained as a prophet, seer, and revelator. If we going to go that route, then for me it's hands down Uchtdorf.
Tsuzuki Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 As for Mormon prophets, it's a tossup between J. Golden Kimball and Kerry Wendell Thornley.
Damien the Leper Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Uchtdorf is my number one, then Proto-Isaiah, Paul, Hugh B. Brown and Moses Thatcher.Pope Frank too.And of course the Lord.
mnn727 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 President Faust was and still is my all time favorite (all 15 are sustained as Prophets) I don't see anyone knocking him out of that spot.
Alan Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I joined the church in 1974 when Spencer Kimball was the president of the church. To this day he is still my favourite. I would also say that his presidency has also been the most far-reaching because of the priesthood revelation.
Mahoneymoriancumer Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 In my lifetime, President Hunter. Short presidency, but he had more impact in a short time than any other prophet, for me, personally. Some of that may have come from how long it had been since we had heard from the president of the church, with the illness of President Benson, but President Hunter's doctrinal focus, particularly on the Savior and the temple, has had a lifelong impact on my own ministry, if it can be termed such. 1
Kenngo1969 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Hunter's Presidency was so short. I wish he was able to serve longer. He is; he's simply serving elsewhere, as are Presidents Kimball, Benson, and Hinckley.

[Emphasis added by Kenngo1969].It can. Most all of us minister to our brothers and sisters, most of us in small and simple ways (by which things greater than we realize are brought to pass).
Kenngo1969 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Does Elder Holland count? He is sustained as a prophet, seer, and revelator.Of the Apostles, if I had a favorite, he'd be the one.
Tacenda Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) I always liked Pres. HunterMe too, wish he'd lived longer. He dedicated the Bountiful temple when it first opened I believe. Atleast I remember him being there, I attended with my husband and 9 yr.old daughter, quite the event. Edited October 7, 2014 by Tacenda 1
stemelbow Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) eh probably Hinckley, being in my life. But, the next one who actually gives us some revelation to chew on will surpass him, I'm promising that now. Edited October 6, 2014 by stemelbow 1
JLHPROF Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 eh probably Hinckley, being in my life. But, the next one who actually gives us some revelation to chew on will surpass him, I'm promising that now. Canonized revelation? That's asking a lot.
Tsuzuki Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 If nobody else mentions Denver Snuffer, I will.
stemelbow Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Canonized revelation? That's asking a lot. Sure, because all the revelation they are sending us these days is nothing more than the same type of inspiration that every person int he world potentially receives. 1
Storm Rider Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 David O. McKay is who I grew up with and he remains one of my most favorite. I have an affinity for Brigham Young, but have never felt close to Joseph. Spencer W. Kimball has been one of my favorites also.
JLHPROF Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) Sure, because all the revelation they are sending us these days is nothing more than the same type of inspiration that every person int he world potentially receives. It's true. And you can almost mark the point in time when something changed. The last "written" revelation/vision or whatever was Joseph F. Smith. And why weren't more of the actual revelations that we have recorded added to canon? Why did we stop presenting legitimate revelation for admission to the canon? For the first 100 years of the Church every prophet recorded written revelation. For the second 100 years of the Church no prophet has recorded a written revelation. What changed in 1920?
