Can you explain to me how this is bad? Have you seen BYU’s cheer squad? This was on the news!

Yes, but the cheerleaders aren’t grooming our kids.

Why that is almost as revealing as what you can see at the pool or beach!

Parents who take their kids to the pool or beach are guilty of child abuse.

In every day and age of world history, there were ways within each culture for men to act as if they are women. If there was a time, place and culture in which mean wearing makeup was not necessarily considered to be evidence effeminacy, then a man wearing makeup in that culture wasn’t de facto evidence that he was effeminate. Whereas in our day and age there’s no doubt whatsoever that drag queens are acting as if they are women and even trying to groom little children into thinking the practice isn’t harmful.

If you believe some of Paul’s teachings are harmful, it’s only because you don’t comprehend what Paul was actually trying to say.

Effeminate British soldiers have to leave drag show to shoot Nazis.

Remember that in the context of Greco-Roman culture being too interested in women was considered to be effeminate. Pederasty was comparatively masculine so logically child groomers would be masculine.

Note: This is actually sort of false as it was a source of public shame to be too interested in boys too. Not necessarily effeminate but it was seen as weakness. Someone ‘courting’ or trying to win over a (free) boy who refused would be seen as weak and shameful.

Ballet, track and gymnastic meets, ice skating competitions, and beauty contests should also be banned.

Hetero men have always been - by long and far - the largest predatory class.

Not to mention the Cougarettes.

In the passage you cite, Paul was specifically addressing women attempting to usurp priesthood leadership rolls in the Church, and acting as if they have authority from God to lead the Church that they do not possess.

Oh that is a good one.  How does wearing gold jewelry and make up an attempt to usurp priesthood leadership rolls in the Church?

And are you telling me that a woman speaking in church and even praying a threat to the priesthood leadership?  Sorry, not working for me.

The back-slapping frat-boy pile-on by the forum's band of progressive apologists has once again not disappointed!

It is because it is so hypocritical.  What is to be condemned if you are LGBT at BYU is celebrated and embraced if you are on the BYU squads.  Yeah, I am pretty sick of it as well. But some of you guys just keep opening threads and piling on the LGBT community every chance you get while on the other side of your mouth you quote Church leaders as saying LGBT members are welcome in the Church.  They are not.  These continuing threads make that VERY clear.  Actions have always counted more than empty words and platitudes.

What you really are objecting to when you refer to the pile-on, is the mountain of evidence of that hypocrisy.

Yes, the “don’t protect the homos” folks are hardly extending the hand of fellowship.

Pure deflection. What is being condemned is Trojan-horse attempts at normalising unmistakably sexualised behaviour in front of minors. (Why people might be determined to do this is a completely separate topic!) That is not celebrated by BYU in any way, and you and your fellows know it.

So, you think the idiots who chanted “don’t protect the homos” actually do welcome gays in the church?

I resent being called a frat boy, lol.

When I was at BYU they were called “service clubs.” Of course, I never joined one.

I didn’t know we were picking sides but I’ll go with the frat boys, 😂

I just find it funny that tolerance is derided as “progressive.”

I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in literary studies. I'm thoroughly steeped in critical theory, especially Derrida, Foucault, and Lyotard. Your word games don't work on me.

You just made my day. 😂😂😂

I graduated summa cum laude with an MA in literature, so I can name-drop right back at you. I had lunch with Terry Eagleton. So there!

Great, so you know exactly what you are doing when you construct and post these passive-aggressive non sequiturs. I always assumed you did.

Sarcasm is not passive-aggressive. I just don’t take reactionary virtue-signaling very seriously.   I support my LGBTQ+ friends and enjoy poking a little at those who don’t.

In contrast, I take the mocking but desperate nothing-to-see-here-folks version of progressive virtue-signalling very seriously. (I suspect a PhD in history has made me a bit sensitive to how Orwellian word games tend to play out in real life.)

And I support the right of children and young people not to be made into targets for your team's radical sexualisation agenda -- which you will of course deny the existence of (or downplay?) in your reply ...
