Avatar4321 Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I've heard that President Nelson said the vacancies might not be all filled at this conference. Any truth to this statement?
Calm Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 “People are wondering if there will be apostles chosen at this conference,” Elder Nelson said in a conversation with the Church News on Sept. 29. He said there probably will be announcements of new apostles, “but that is a matter between the Lord and His prophet.”“There have been conferences where a vacancy has not been filled,” he explained. “President Heber J. Grant had announced to the Twelve that ‘so and so’ would be called, but it didn’t happen. Members of the Twelve asked him when the conference was over why he didn’t fill the vacancy. He replied that the man he said would be called wasn’t ready yet.” http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865637915/President-Nelson-reflects-on-being-an-Apostle-of-the-Lord-discusses-possible-announcement-of-3-new.html?pg=1 2
Ginger Snaps Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 That's not what he said. He pointed out that a couple of apostles had personal business affairs to wrap up before they could become full-time apostles. Now people are speculating that he's "preparing" us for this happening again. But he also said that the final word was between Pres Monson and the Lord. 1
Buckeye Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I've heard that President Nelson said the vacancies might not be all filled at this conference. Any truth to this statement? Yes, I can confirm that I was extended a call to the Q12, but because I have things to tie up I asked for the call to be delayed until the April 2016 conference. 3
Gray Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Maybe they'll shrink down the number of apostles back to 12? Probably not.
Buckeye Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I'll give a real prediction. Whoever is called this conference, the church will provide much more information and praise regarding his wife than was done for previously-called apostles.

Buckeye Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 (edited) You too? High five! You probably already know, but the third is my cousin Darrell. ETA: ... I mean, of course, my other cousin Darrell. Edited October 1, 2015 by Buckeye
cinepro Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I'm actually hoping that 15 apostles will be called and they'll finally establish a Second Quorum of the 12. 1

Yes, to the point of saying that she is so spiritual that she does not need to be called as an apostle to impact the world like her lowly husband. She is woman, all spiritual, all powerful, she roars like a lion, but is always as gentle as a lamb.

Sevenbak Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 The Church has scheduled a press conference for 4:30 on Sat. afternoon. Unless they're announcing some other major thing, it will be to introduce the new Apostles, which apparently will happen during the afternoon session. Iirc, that is the session typically where Church business is taken care of. 1

Sevenbak Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Because it's my job to know. BTW, new LDS Apostles, First Presidencies, etc, are always introduced to the public at a press event after they are sustained in a session. It's been so for many years.

JLHPROF Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 A secretly leaked memo from the highest offices of the Church have confirmed that the three vacancies will be filled using popular vote and the elected apostles are John Dehlin, Denver Snuffer, and Kate Kelly. In other news, the One Mighty and Strong has packed his bag and is on his way to Salt Lake now...

The Nehor Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 It was announced that they are filling all the vacancies. The beginning of one of Glenn Beck's posts yesterday on FB said "I just left Church where I spent a few minutes with my church leaders.."Elder Glenn Beck? We'll see tomorrow. Please no. If I apostasize I want it to be for some very pleasurable sin and not for something inane like Beck being an apostle. 4

No one else would make that call.
