I think tea must be an acquired taste.  I didn't grow up in the church but we never drank any kind of tea at my house.  My best friend's house loved their tea though, especially sweet tea.  I tried to drink it a couple of times but couldn't get it down and couldn't figure out how they could.

I agree with you.  It taste like hay water to me.

Agree, lol. We had a young woman (married, not a teenager) speak in sacrament and she mentioned how happy she was that the WOW didn’t prohibit energy drinks.

Note: I think energy drinks have been strongly discouraged, but it is difficult to expand the WOW to cover other drinks because they were not revealed to Joseph as forbidden (even though they didn’t exist but that could open another can of worms of why didn’t God let Joseph know about what was coming down the pike or leave some leeway for such.)

2nd Note: I don’t know why coffee and tea were singled out and I don’t see any problem with drinking them except that it is an obedience issue. If the WOW were rescinded tomorrow I would be lined up at Starbucks for a pumpkin spiced latte, then I would make a batch of sweet tea. The alcohol I could take or leave. Also if I stepped away from the church and wasn’t under covenant to follow the WOW I would do the same but it would be because I was going back to my roots and also because I don’t believe there is anything inherently wrong in any of the “forbidden” drinks, not because I went to the dark side:)

In early sermons the Word of Wisdom was sometimes thought to also include hot soup.

I always find those messages a bit nonsens. I drink energy drinks all the time and i feel great after that. Drinking energy drink can not be more worse then drinking coffee i feel like.

If feeling great afterwards is an indication that something is healthy then the Word of Wisdom has even more errors in it.

That's not what i meant. But i don't believe that energy drink is more unhealty then coffee. Both energy drink as coffee contains caffeine. And caffeine is always not really healthy anyway.

You can take my Mountain Dew away when you pry it from my weak, shaking hands.

The top quote is a pop cultural remark first referring to gun control you probably have not heard of.

The spoofs can be fun.

lol, I actually said this once about guns and I didn’t even own a gun but I felt so strongly about second amendment rights and I bought into the notion that if we let the government have any control over guns they would take all guns away. Now I believe in some form of control for the greater good but I won’t get political.

I recently heard that tea was a huge help, listened to the story of the "tea party" in Boston this past week on a tour and it helping with killing the bacteria in it and saved lives, the boiling of the water was key.

Some might say that a health code that included the advice to boil water would have been more helpful than one that excluded drinks made with very hot or boiling water.

The phosphoric acid in non-cola drinks could fit that category.

Yeah, I’m unaware of any substance that is not harmful to the human body depending on the circumstance of ingestion and amount.

True.  Some might say that.  Some also might say that a blind man rubbing mud in his eyes shouldn’t expect to be healed of his blindness.

It could be but some overstate this. People did have a pretty good idea of what water was and was not safe to drink.

Yep!!! Very similar!

The first is an established scientific fact. I find it difficult to imagine anyone disagreeing.

The second is a story from 2000 years ago. There are many people who are not convinced that the person who made the mud existed.

In other news, rumor has it that the Church leaders are considering banning grandma's apple pie because it has found to be habit forming.  Ice cream is also being considered.  The two together will be a sure sign of apostasy.
