But, I don't think we'll hear either scripture? No. The Apostles experience it and are fully aware of it the Savior's warning but I don't think they think anything is to be gained by pointing out that the persecution of Elder Holland is a continuing fulfillment of prophecy.

I am not advocating for it. I put it in a list of silly predictions. I have spoken with a few people who think it would be a good idea from climates that would make it convenient. It is as likely as most of the predictions on my list.

And yet a day is coming when even having clean water could become an issue.  That already happens in disaster zones 

We have to get tougher to take on what is coming, even maybe just locally.

That might be true of Boomers and to a lesser extent Gen Xers but the younger generations are, speaking generally, plenty tough due to having to claw their way through life without the advantages of previous generations.

I can't say that I'm the most devout and I took his remarks very seriously as well. I don't really want to get into my feelings about what happened or about Elder Holland in general. But neither he nor his peers are in the habit of apologizing and that may be in part because of the whole can of worms that opens.

Why is an apology even in order? The speaker at the graduation commencement was given free rein to speak his mind. The risk of having his remarks open to criticism is the price he paid for that privilege. Would he or his supporters prefer that his speech had been censored in the first place?

I had to think about it for a minute and my thoughts were on the problem young adults have in renting an apartment or buying a home for a decent price and college not affordable. Add in the state the USA and world is in. Climate change, with all the horrific weather patterns.

Social media in their faces, where you and I and most likely Nehor, didn't need to worry our lives could be on display for all to see, because someone plastered it all over social media with the click of their phones.

I could probably think of more, but hopefully you get what I'm saying. It was a slower time. Now the children are caught up in the adults in their lives, busy life. When I grew up it felt like time was so slow, but youngsters now think time is going fast, just like the adults. 

So in these ways I agreed with Nehor.

I agree with you. There are significant ways that youth have it harder these days.  For example, there is double the amount of children growing up in single parent homes. Generally this at the very least means lower income levels. One in five children will experience a parental breakup by age 9.

I heard some speculation that a big change is in the wind concerning the roles of bishops, EQ presidents, RS presidents, stake leaders, and the de facto lines of authority among them. Something about priesthood keys, including those powers delegated to our sisters, and to which priesthood (Aaronic vs. Melchizedek) they actually pertain. I can’t say if any of this will actually come up in GC, but it would be the means of reaching the broadest possible simultaneous audience.

With more and more countries legalizing same-sex marriage, I believe the brethren will now emphasize more and more the difference between MARRIAGE and SEALING, stressing on the divinity of the latter.
