Keep in mind though that Quebec has different laws than the rest of Canada in regards to immigration, not totally. One is the French language requirement. Nice try. Which President first put kids in cages? What was the reason? Is that still happening? The Canadians split up his family. She crossed the border. He was right behind her and was turned away. They have sought a waver, but it will take months-until after the baby is born. It costs $1500 and there is no guarantee it will be granted. If he had tried to force his way across or to circumvent the authorities, he would be in a cage now. Whether the Frenchies or the Anglos did it, Canada split up a family at the border and is keeping a father from his child and bride...they had planned to get married in Montreal. Several years ago, we took our two youngest sons on a day trip across from Port Angeles to Victoria on a whim. Coming back we were asked by the American border guards for ID for the boys. We had none, it being a spontaneous trip. They were taken into a separate room and asked if we were really their parents and if we were forcing them to be with us. It was finally cleared up. We could have gotten our knickers in a knot about it, but on reflection the purpose of that bit of inconvenience was to protect the children. I’m glad they did that. I’ve crossed the border many times, including probably 20 times with a bus load of orchestra kids. The Canadian border guards have no sense of humor. Our instruction to the kids was always to answer questions yes sir and no sir and be very respectful. I really like Canada but I also love the USA. Neither of them is utopia. MustardSeed Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 My brother is an undercover DEA and was called in this weekend to operate as a fed to battle in Seattle. Thank goodness he got out of it. Can you imagine having to take the position of a fed and go to war with civilians? When you don't even believe in the mission? 1

I expect we will see a protesting surge when evictions start piling up with another message added. 1

No, what I meant is that it feels that the media (mainstream or not), by focusing on Portland and Seattle, is making it feel like this is what is happening everywhere. I don't doubt things are crazy in Portland and Seattle. 2

It truly is heart-rending that the police have been ordered to stand down or soft peddle the situation. 1

More expensive than building a wall and a wall is still expensive. Maybe you could hide the costs of the wall though by saying the US will pay for it? 2

Bob Crockett Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 (edited) American civilization has reached the point where tort law can govern corporate responsibility for dangerous products. Yes, we need some dangerous products. But I cannot understand why a handgun maker is exempt from most tort laws while the maker of a plastic fake knife is not. If Satan exists, he ran rampant with the founding fathers with their slaves, mistresses, Deism and guns. Edited July 28, 2020 by Bob Crockett 1

A close study of the sermons of Brigham Young and Joseph Smith shows that they despised or distrusted the federal government and the constitution. Sure, Joseph Smith said things about the constitution being inspired, as does the D&C, but his view of the constitution was that it was deeply flawed and needed changing. His constitutional views can be seen from his presidential platform where he advocated, among other things, abolition. Brigham Young's views were more fiery in denunciation. If I were to post some of Pres. Young's more inflammatory sermon quotes, you'd be shocked -- hanging federal officials and the president. When you think about the worldwide church and what it teaches today, one must wonder what Mexicans think when right wing Mormons go on and on about their constitution and their right to bear arms and kill people with those arms. Or Canadians. Edited July 28, 2020 by Bob Crockett 1
