No, he doesn't. Lol. And he doesn't watch sports. And he rarely watches Netflix. Mostly he does tons of homework or reads.

You have all the power on earth, not the men.  The Ten Day idea is to remind the women God's way is in the Ten Commandments and the paradigms of God are in them, and the women need to know they are simple instruction by God to not be a thief in different ways to others and not to steal the glory of God's grace.  In a very short time you can repent of all your sins and be done with it.  The LDS sacrament is not true and creates the idea that you need to repent forever.  Take the sacrament, but change the ideas inside, and keep the ideas private.  You will be so happy when you have repented of all your sins of the flesh and can ignore others who want to control you, but be polite and discrete about your freedom from sin, or you may get crucified by "religious" fanatics.

They are called paradigms precisely because one cannot call them true or false.   Otherwise they are just called Truth.

I don't "do" Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or MySpace (although I do joke with my students about updating my MySpace . . .  ). A couple of message boards, and that's it, for me. My wife doesn't do social media of any kind, including message boards. 

While I discuss, on message boards, my thoughts about Church policies and practices, I think that's vastly different than what has been reported here from multiple people about angry sisters expressing their anger through the popular "social" media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) and then protesting by flooding these media with "protest" posts. Are you kidding me? I think that reaction shows better than anyone else that President Nelson's arrow hit the bullseye.

I am good with this fast  coming from the Lord.

If you think women are "terrible" at big picture paradigms then you should talk to the board of women at Utah's Festival of Trees where they make 2+ million for Primary Children's Hospital every year and every penny that comes in goes to the hospital all the while creating, this huge, spiritual sense of community from 1000s of volunteers.

Or at Gathering Humanity where they have been able to double the help the refugees in the area receive from resettlement agencies because they pull 1000s of volunteers to help - except they won't tell you that - they will tell you God does it.

Or any of 100 other organizations and businesses started by women and run by women with great, big picture success.

Law of Unintended Consequences. Some women wanted "equality," and got an annual meeting on Conference Saturday at the expense of Priesthood meeting. Now, some (probably the same ones) are bickering about how many men speak at it, that they talked about the importance of having children and unplugging from electronics, etc.? 

I agree that it appears that the complainers (who are a shrill, vocal minority ---- and don't at all represent normative Mormon women) are going to complain no matter what. I'm surprised they aren't complaining about how few women have prayed in GC (we are watching Saturday afternoon session tonight --- maybe women gave the opening and closing prayers).

That’s my hubby. He rarely watches tv and is rarely on social media.  He watches sports about 3 times a year. For the President to challenge him to sacrifice he would have ask him to stay out of the garage for 10 days. 

But I see what a lot of women are saying about their hubbies on the Latter-day Saint Facebook groups and video game playing  does seem to be something that is causing a lot of contention in member marriages, like MS said.

if you want pure comedy watch youtube videos of mad wives, girlfriends, parents etc.destroying their loved ones' xbox and nintendo and all that stuff, I would link it on here but it has swears...........your Husband sounds like my BIL. He has a computer degree and spends all day working with computer stuff for his job but he plays basketball, ultimate frisbee and coming over here when my computer goes haywire with sparks/smoke and he is renovating their house currently. He is never on social media whatsoever, it's a rare day for him to even agree to even have his picture taken that is posted to FB. I guess he gets his computer fix at work and then comes home and is done with all that stuff

im not even a sister and I decided yon join the fast. I particularly want to let go of twitter before the election. Not really on Facebook that much. All I use YouTube for is mostly music

I have a twitter account but I so seldom check it that I might as well not have it.  The most use I ever put it to was when my late wife was on her deathbed so I could keep the family apprised of things.

I just wanted to say that me and my wife are both participating in the fast! I find myself "scrolling" all to often at night when I should either be attempting to sleep or reading better material. The interesting thing we both recognized was that he said to fast from Social Media, not the internet or phones in general. For example I still wander the "Mormon Forums" I'm apart of and join in on the community that I've come to know. I think he was inspired to ask the women to fast, maybe the Lords Prophet was instructed of the Lord that right then there were women who needed to hear it. I was watching with my wife's family though we all agreed (men included) to disconnect because while it was directed at the women, it would be beneficial either way! Just my thoughts though!

I honestly can see why women may wonder why the men weren't asked to give up social media for 10 days too, but I did not realize some would feel so strongly about it!  Now, these are all younger marrieds (the age of my daughter-in-law) as far as I know who are very active in the church.

Do you feel they are within their rights to do this?  It's a touchy topic, I know....

I think everyone is free to make a choice.

I also think it likely that 6 months from now at some peculiar meeting where men are typically present, President Nelson will ask the males to fast from social media.  

I hope that if this happens all the hurt feelings will be instantly healed, but somehow I do not think feelings work that way.

I love George Noory and how much enthusiasm he somehow scrapes together for the various "paradigms" even if they totally contradict the paradigm taken on five minutes before.  They are always the most amazing idea he has ever heard of !!

The guy should get a Best Actor award!

When my wife catches me listening she just walks away shaking her head.  I love it!!

I think it is just silly. Things like this lead me to believe that the leadership is out of touch.  People connect through social media.  Please support each other through social media.  People stay in touch through social media.  A ten day social media fast is about as silly as asking president Nelson to take a ten day telephone fast.
