President Monson gave a very short one on the word of wisdom. I was surprised to see him even get up talk at all. Getting hard for him these days.

Yes, God could spare us a great deal of pain, but (paradoxically, perhaps) pain is one of the things He allows us to learn from. I liked Sis. McConkie's invocation of the Parable of the Unjust Judge. Even the Unjust Judge decided to help the woman ("Lest by her continual coming she weary me"). God is much better than that. I liked Elder Cardon's idea of reading the Book of Mormon as though we are Joseph Smith, learning these things for the first time. I liked Elder Uceda's story about how, earlier that morning, he had prayed with his lips, but when he really needed help, he prayed with his heart. I liked Elder Cornish's story about the older medical resident who offered him encouragement when he was discouraged. My $0.02, actual value, perhaps, much less. It completely reminded me of President Taylor's Origin and Destiny of Woman sermon. So good to be reminded of the extent and majesty of eternity in Mormon theology.
Tacenda Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Quite the story about the Indian boy Taj Rowland. He was kidnapped as a young boy, and put in an orphanage. Then a couple from the USA adopted him. They finally found out why he was so angry. They didn't know he had a family back in India. Still watching, so good. Glad they found his family!

After I left in 1989, I never lost faith in God....I attended non-denominational Churches at first, finally converting to Catholicism...
