Bernard Gui Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Well, there it is. The Priesthood session is going to be broadcast live. As a result, I have listedthe top 10 reasons this will be catastrophic for the brethren of the church who attend: 1. No more anti-women jokes.2. No more expressing the barbaric yowlp in the conference auditorium.3. No more mano a mano between the various General Authority factions.4. No more 19th-century antagonistic anti-women rhetoric from the pulpit.5. No more talks to the young men about the M word.6. No more secret macho rituals and oaths that were previously done with the cameras off.7. No more instructions on bruiseless wife beating.8. No more mother-in-law hate talk.9. No more ladies hiding in the toilet stalls to catch a few words from inside the Octagon. 10. All after-conference man-and-boy-only hamburger trips will now be integrated with the ladies. Can you think of some more? Edited September 26, 2013 by Bernard Gui 4

JLHPROF Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 3. No more mano a mano between the various General Authority factions.6. No more secret macho rituals and oaths that were previously done with the cameras off.Couldn't decide if this was 3 or 6....
Scott Lloyd Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 No more "For Women Only" events at Deseret Book -- at least not while the men are in the priesthood session. Hmm, I guess not every woman in the Church will feel obliged to watch the session live, even though they can now do it. So I guess this won't impact DB marketing all that much.
Bernard Gui Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 Couldn't decide if this was 3 or 6....I remember this scene...it's #8.
Bernard Gui Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 The ticket line becomes a pick-up line. That would be a plus for some guys.

No more massive editing of the talks before publication to remove all the hateful anti-women stuff. 1
Scott Lloyd Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Question for the women on the board: Now that you can watch the priesthood session live, do you intend to do so?
bluebell Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Question for the women on the board: Now that you can watch the priesthood session live, do you intend to do so? I don't. I always read them when they come out in the Ensign, but I don't see a reason to watch it live.
CV75 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 That would be a plus for some guys.Maybe, but for me, I can't go anywhere without women hitting on me. Which leads me to: Catfights over who will sit next to me. So more security personnel will be required. And there'll need to be chaperones patrolling the hallways for errant teenagers. 2
Duncan Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) That would be a plus for some guys. hmm, what time? and do you think a bowtie would be too much? Edited September 26, 2013 by Duncan
Calm Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Question for the women on the board: Now that you can watch the priesthood session live, do you intend to do so?Nope, I will do like I've done since they put them in the magazines...read them. But I do that with the General RS Meeting talks and most Conference talks as well. 1
Garden Girl Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Couldn't decide if this was 3 or 6....Naahh... this is #1 for sure... GG
The Nehor Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I'm crashing Relief Society Conference. Who is with me? 4

And there'll need to be chaperones patrolling the hallways for errant teenagers. Security cameras could be used and the Danites would enforce the rules. Edited September 26, 2013 by Bernard Gui 1
Bernard Gui Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) hmm, what time? and do you think a bowtie would be too much Dude! A bow tie? Definitely a chick magnet. Edited September 26, 2013 by Bernard Gui 1
Bernard Gui Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) No more dumb blonde jokes from the General YM Presidency. No more football, basketball, war, "when I was a boy working on the farm" stories. Edited September 26, 2013 by Bernard Gui
Bernard Gui Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Couldn't decide if this was 3 or 6.... Now that you mention it, definitely #3. Took me a while. Edited September 26, 2013 by Bernard Gui
LDSGuy Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I'm crashing Relief Society Conference. Who is with me?If only I lived in Utah
Hamba Tuhan Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I'm crashing Relief Society Conference. Who is with me? When I was working in the Caribbean, several members told me one Sunday that they'd see me at the women's conference the next weekend. I started to wonder if my masculinity wasn't obvious enough, but when I finally asked the branch president what was going on, he said, 'Hamba, the prophets are speaking; who wouldn't want to come listen'. So the following weekend -- and for the first time in my life -- I showed up for the broadcast of the women's conference. Everyone was there -- men, women, children. The following weekend, all five conference sessions were attended by the entire branch -- men, women, children. After all, the prophets were speaking ... 4
Traela Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 hmm, what time? and do you think a bowtie would be too much?Bow ties are cool. But skip the fez.
BlueDreams Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Question for the women on the board: Now that you can watch the priesthood session live, do you intend to do so? No, I have plans already. It's girl's night. Besides I can read it, watch it, or listen to it.......heck, or all three at the same time if I but wait a couple weeks. With luv,Bd
Buckeye Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 *** UPDATE *** Per the SL Tribune, a letter will be read in congregations encouraging men/boys to attend PH session in their local chapels rather than at home. Not surprising, IMO. http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsfaithblog/56921294-180/priesthood-lds-mormon-session.html.csp 1
