Dario_M Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Hey guys god bless you. Tomorrow is an special day. Why??? Well..because it's sunday the sabbat day. The day of the Lord our God. But! Tomorrow is also the day that the clock goes an hour back in time. Important for me to know because otherwise i will arive on the wrong time to church tomorrow. But.... does this also count for the US? Will the clock also goes back in time tomorrow where you guys are at? Or does the US have another date when the clock will go an hour back in time? Let me know because i'm curious?

Calm Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Yep. It’s my birthday gift from the country every year (my birthday is always in the week it happens). 2

That's one of those cute lyrics to help remember. Righty-Tighty, Lefty-Loosey I before E, except after C, Unless is sounds like A as in "neigh" or "weigh" Thirty days hath September, April, June and November; All the rest have thirty-one, Excepting February alone. Which has twenty-eight days clear And twenty-nine in each leap year. 1
Popular Post InCognitus Posted October 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 26, 2024 In the U.S. the change occurs on November 2, which is next week and not tomorrow. https://www.timeanddate.com/time/change/usa 5

It impacted me the most last year when I got a text message on Saturday afternoon March 11 and was asked to substitute for giving a lesson in Elder's Quorum the next day, and panic kicked in when I realized that I had one less hour than normal to prepare the lesson! 2

Why do calendars start on Sunday? Is Sunday the first or last day of the week? Alexa is telling me both Mondays and Sundays are the first day of the week. Edited October 26, 2024 by Calm
The Nehor Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 They almost got rid of Daylight Savings Time in Congress but they dropped the ball.
Rain Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Like Incognitus said, time doesn't change here in Arizona and I love that it doesn't. Daylight savings time drives me nuts here in Arizona now that so many things are across times zones. There are so many people that don't pay attention to ET, EST and EDT (or any other time zone wording). So in the summer I may get an invitation to a meeting at 3pm EST and I wonder, "did you mean EDT? Or did you really mean EST?" I'm sure most of the time they mean EDT, but with all the time zone websites converting times and with some countries not changing times or changing on different dates I'm never quite sure. 3

Let's see if I get this right: Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time/DST, but the Navajo Nation, a good portion of which lies in Arizona, does observe DST, while the Hopi Nation, which is surrounded completely by the Arizona portion of the Navajo Nation, does not observe DST. Do I have that right? 2
CV75 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 I put my clock 25 hours, that way I only have to do it every 2 years. 2

One of the developers I worked with never changed the time on his devices and he set them 10 min fast or slow, I can’t remember which. He had his reasons, but for the life of me, I can’t remember what they were, lol. 1

Do I have that right? That's correct. Fortunately, the cell phone towers along state route 89 don't seem to recognize that little detail (or you don't get cell phone service at all), as I've never noticed that my cell phone switches time zones when I'm driving through that western portion of the Navajo nation on trips from Phoenix to Utah (or vice versa), but it always changes up at the Utah border during the daylight saving months of the year. 1

I'm sure most of the time they mean EDT, but with all the time zone websites converting times and with some countries not changing times or changing on different dates I'm never quite sure. I've noticed the MTD/MST confusion too. Most of my clients are in Arizona, so I know what they mean when they set meeting times, but occasionally I'll get non-Arizona clients, or supporting vendors and consultants, who email asking about a meeting time using a MST designation, but they really mean MDT. It's really confusing. If they say PST, EST, or CST, I know they really mean PDT, EDT, or CDT (this time of year). But when they say MST and they are outside of Arizona and they're making the appointment with me in connection with an Arizona client, I always need to double check. I VERY MUCH prefer the way Arizona does it. But I'd like it a lot better if it literally worked the way you said it, which was: "time doesn't change here in Arizona". If only I could stop time once in a while to get more things done or enjoy a little more relaxation once in a while 2
