Really?  I haven’t heard anything, not even from my friends who have gone since then.

I was there a month ago, I didn't see any changes! mind you I haven't been since last year's changes so maybe I wouldn't know if they changed anything since they made changes from last year, I thought it was fine. Although they could always have more air conditioning, it's SO stuffy!!!!!!!!!

Likely yes.  I hope it’s implemented everywhere. Lots of stuff trimmed down.

Now I’m starting to wonder.  But I suppose I can say this-today it was a film strip.  Not a movie.  I saw a new movie earlier this year-

I hope they get a new movie... I dislike the film strip... find it hard to relate... I used to love going, but not so much now although I welcomed the new wording, just not the film strip...

At the beginning of the year (January 2nd) when some changes were made, the church issued the following statement on the church website (found here:  https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/temple-worship), and I presume the changes you noticed are part of those being implemented at that time:

First Presidency Statement on Temples

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued the following statement:

"Whenever the Lord has had a people on the earth who will obey His word, they have been commanded to build temples. Scriptures document patterns of temple worship from the times of Adam and Eve, Moses, Solomon, Nephi, and others.

With the restoration of the gospel in these latter days, temple worship has also been restored to bless the lives of people across the world and on the other side of the veil as well.

Over these many centuries, details associated with temple work have been adjusted periodically, including language, methods of construction, communication, and record-keeping. Prophets have taught that there will be no end to such adjustments as directed by the Lord to His servants.

A dedicated temple is the most holy of any place of worship on the earth. Its ordinances are sacred and are not discussed outside a holy temple."

Sorry to excite everyone, I haven’t been since May-  I’m not sure how I missed the changes then.  Was so excited about the big one I didn’t notice some details.

I do too!  I have a friend though who loves the film strip as she found the acting distracting in the actual movies.

I assume the film strip facilitates world wide church- without having to film several versions.

Yes, I'm sure you are right.  It makes it so much easier to do different languages.  But I do really miss the old movies sometimes.

Funny not so funny, in my changing stall which has 4 other lockers I took my time getting dressed.  It’s my birthday so I snuck out my phone to enjoy all my birthday wishes- but took too much time.  Stepped out when I was done to get an angry look from a woman waiting to get in my stall.

I agree. I don’t really like the film strip.  It reminds me of the old films from the past where it would beep and then you would advance the slide.

The church is in a bit of a conundrum with this because the filming director of the temple films has plead guilty to sexually abusing children.

They discontinued the movies when their producer/director was arrested in 2018.   Maybe temples outside the US didn't do that?

we have the filmstrip version now, but the first time I saw it, since the new changes, was a month ago, so when they introduced the new version I can't say (at least for this Temple)

It’s like a graphic novel, but maybe the intent is to appeal to the new generation of temple-goers.

Amen to this! I liked the anonymity and lack of celebrity. It was distracting to see Gordon Jump, Michael Ballam, and Corbin Allred on the screen. Love them all, but it was odd IMO

My Dad got to play Satan :diablo:  in the Salt Lake Temple.  Some, though, wonder, was he really acting?  Perhaps the Temple Presidency simply cast "according to type"? :D :rofl: :D 

PS:  And it was either him or someone else who met President Gordon B. Hinckley in an elevator, who greeted him with a cheerful, "Well, hello there, Satan!"
