Our bishopric tends to assign Sac Meeting talks on Come Follow Me so that means we'll get 8 hours a month on the same topic. That doesn't sound all that appealing. Am I misunderstanding this? 1

What's the Come Follow Me manual? I'm not familiar with it, can anyone post a link or is it new. The web address listed in this .pdf doesn't seem to work and I couldn't find it on my gospel library app.

I garnered some stern looks when I suggested to the stake presidency (when asked for suggestions about what to have the high council speakers speak on next year) that it not be the Come Follow Me topic of the month (which our stake has been doing for years). They didn't appreciate me comparing this to "the beatings will continue until morale improves." Come Follow Me for Priesthood/Relief Society? Brutal. 11
Doctrine 612 Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 I am not sure but I think the come follow me-Melchizedek/relief society, if ping to have different topics then the youth Sunday school. also the manual might be only in the ensign but it might also have it own section in the lds gospel library. i like the 2nd and 3rd Sunday change because for me teaching from a conference talk is easier to teach from as well as this might get people to pay attention during GC.😳. i like that they kept adult Sunday school the same, I have been seeing new add on resources though, but I always use my own questions with the lesson to get the group dialogue up.

I think the thinking, for those who like this, is that it will be great for parents and youth to be able to talk about what they're learning after Church --- because they're discussing the same things! The Come, Follow Me set up is very dependent on the teacher putting effort into things and listening to the Holy Ghost, and especially dependent on the class members doing the same thing. It's just not a canned presentation. That's a plus side, but the downside is lack of effort goes badly. 3

But it was obvious that the likely wouldn't do the president monson manual while he was still president so it meant we would need to do something else 1

carbon dioxide Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 (edited) Not a big fan of the Sunday School manual of Come, Follow Me for youth. The same topics and lesson plan for 12-18 year olds is not good. A 12 year old should not be getting the same lesson as a 17 year old gets. When I teach from a conference talks I actually try to discuss the points of the talk. Although sometimes I will grudgingly play the talk on the telly if it seems needed.

Years ago I had one EQ President that did that on the 4th Sundays, I usually went home. I can read much better (and faster) than he could.
