For a definition:

D&C 76 35 Having denied the Holy Spirit after having received it, and having denied the Only Begotten Son of the Father, having crucified him unto themselves and put him to an open shame.

At the very least, CB did not deny Christ or crucify him unto himself since he did not deny God.

Tacenda,

Thanks. I thought you meant someone here had claimed such.

I see, however, CB has had that experience in the past, though not here.

Thanks for your added edit. Yes, that is in referrence to the Second Annointing or Second Endowment. It's not likely that CB had that experience.

Yes.  When I left the Church, I was told I was going to hell with no chance of Salvation and that I could NEVER return to the Church because I was committing the one unforgivable sin

Shows how few people know what the Unforgivable Sin(s) refer to.

Exactly. Anyone who made such a comment to CB didn't know what they were speaking of. It's a very specific sin that very few will ever be in the position   to commit.  :nea:

Out of nowhere, the missionaries appeared...(Elders).  We chatted and they will be sitting with me on Sunday.

The Bus has left the station

Oh, it very much was not out of nowhere, even if that might have seemed to be the case from a mortal perspective. :) God is mindful of you (even if, at times, it might seem as though no mortal soul is). :)

Good morning, CountryBoy...

Let's see... it's 8:00 a.m. my time... 10:00 a.m. your time... You're probably just getting to the chapel now for the beginning of Sac Mtg.  I have a feeling it will be different than last Sunday, particularly since the missionaries will be sitting with you...

So just let me tell you that you'll be in my thoughts and prayers as I sit in my Sac Mtg...

5 or 6 years ago, I had a dream.  In my dream, I walked up to a crowd....they were listening to someone.  When  got closer, I saw they were listening to Joseph Smith.  I moved to the front.  Joseph looked right at me.  He was talking, but I could not hear a single word he said.

My friend Mike in Utah, who has been praying for me since 1999, told me the dream meant that I was ignoring Joseph.  I told Mike back then that no, it meant I was not supposed to listen to what Joseph was saying.

Yesterday, I was reading Lehi's dream.  There is the part where Lehi sees Laman and Lemuel, but they do not come to him.  It reminded me of my dream and how I refused to get closer, but walked away.

It made me sad.

Just got home.

Ok...I sat down in my back seat.  The missionaries came over.  Then....it was a file of people who came by.  I asked the missionary if the Bishop had sent an email to the ward  lol.

Then, after Sac meeting, the Bishop came by.  he said, "you have a lot of people caring for you and praying and you."  He had receive several emails and phone calls.  I was humbled.

I decided to stay for EQ.  It was my first EQ meeting since 1989.

The Bishop will be setting a meeting with me soon.

It was a great day.  I truly enjoyed myself.

The bus is gaining speed......

I'm so glad it went well!  :yahoo:

Let this be a lesson to all of us. Seek those that are seated alone or off by themselves in church. These people need a connection, if only a warm smile and a "hi, how are you". I'm pretty sure the activity rate would increase. The main reason the Lord wants us to go to church, IMO, is to gather as a people and get to know each other and love one another. Besides learning of him, taking the Sacrament, etc. The way I look at HF, he's like a father that wants his kids to get along and love each other, just like we want our kids to do. He probably wishes that above everything else. It shouldn't be just about our needs.

Glad you had such a great experience CB, I knew you would.

Well, thanks for the happy tears. :)

Today at priesthood meeting (High Priests Group) it was the other instructor's turn to give the lesson, so I sat way in the back and off to the side just quietly reveling in the Spirit.  I guess someone could have come to sit by me, thinking I was lonely, but I wasn't.  It was just because I could see everyone from there.  Some of these men I have known for over 30 years, and there are even a few who were little kids when I moved into the ward.  It's nice to be Old and Fat, in company like That.

I had to move closer to the action later, though, so I could get the attention of the today's instructor, Br. Smith, who is confined to a wheelchair because of ALS, and couldn't see me off in the corner.

It was a beautiful set of meetings today.  Our two speakers were a sister missionary who had just come home (and I remember when she was a bump on her mommy's tummy!), and young man who was about to head off to Honduras for his mission.

I guess I should have been more clear. Seek those that appear lonely or insecure in talking to you first, with a keen eye you can find them. Or even those that aren't, say there's someone who lost a loved one, be sure to express your condolences. I remember when my parents died, I was lucky to have one, if that, person express something. Maybe I just appear hands off.

I agree totally with you.  You never know who you might comfort with just a "hello...we are so glad you are here"

The Missionaries came by last night.  One of them is ending his mission and goes home Wednesday.  I told him he did not have to visit me because I was certain he had a lot of people to see before he went to the Mission Home tonight.  He responded that of all the people he had to see, I was at the the top of his list because he had never known anyone who had been out of the Church 25 years and was coming back.

We chatted....and I gave him my copy "Rough Stone Rolling" as a going-away gift.

We also discussed testimonies.  I asked the younger missionary if he had a testimony.  He said yes.  I asked him how strong is it?  He said "strong enough to be a missionary".  I said, "That is a BS answer.  Give me a real answer." I said that many missionaries go just because they are supposed to go.  So, being a missionary does not mean you have testimony.  He said no one had ever asked him that before...so he was taken aback.  He said he knows the Church is true.  I told him, "no, you don't."  he said the Spirit told him.  I said, "the "Spirit" tells a lot of people that their particular Church is true."

So, we talked about faith.  I told him he can never "know".  And that he should be thankful for that.  I told him that "knowing" does not require faith.  That, once yo have perfect knowledge, you cannot have faith....because no faith is needed.  We had a long discussion about faith.  The younger finally said, "So THAT is why God took the Gold Plates...so we would HAVE to use faith."

When we got done, he said, "Then. from now on, I will say, I have a Testimony that the Church is true."  The elder missionary, (the one leaving) shook his head and said he wished he could be here as I get baptized.  The younger asked me if I would go teaching with them sometime.

In the meantime, the younger and his new companion are coming for Pizza Friday.

I love coming home.  It felt so good to discuss with the Missionaries.  It felt good to discuss the Gospel again.  It felt good to have the Spirit in my home again.

Are y'all on the bus with me?  Or are y'all following in cars?

Look at you teaching the missionaries too!  Sometime I think that missionaries seem so young, so green.  People say that serving a mission teaches you so much about the gospel.  You just taught a missionary the true meaning of testimony which he will probably carry throughout his life.  (Hopefully "Rough Stone Rolling" won't have too many surprises for him).

I love seeing people get excited by the restored gospel.

If you believe in Fowler's stages of faith, you just brought them out of stage 3 possibly. RSR?? Wow!!

I can't really describe what I felt.  But it felt really good....

Yeah.  Sometimes the Holy Spirit is like that. ;):)
