Felicitaciones!  Me alegro que Ud. sabe hablar el idioma celestial!

(Congratulations!  It makes me happy that you know how to speak the Celestial Language!)*

Not doing the things prohibited by the Word of Wisdom and loving God and displaying the Bible in your office is NOT the same as living His precepts fully. You'll want to live the law of tithes and offerings, fast monthly, serve others, accept a calling (you can do things in scouts without actually being a member, for instance and sometimes other things like singing in the choir), be 100% honest and sexually pure, honor your father and mother, keep the sabbath day holy, share your testimony (obviously not one that Joseph Smith is a prophet yet, but you do apparently believe you have a testimony of the divinity of Christ and that He is resurrected and the Savior of all mankind. You may or may not have a testimony of healthy living (hard to tell whether the wofw decisions were testimony or just a decision). etc.), and a whole host of guidance (daily scriptures and prayer family and personal, self-reliance, life-long learning, regular service, acting on all things you are prompted to do good, controlling anger and selfishness and desire for control of others, FHE etc.) that modern prophets suggest might help you develop the desire and self-discipline to fully submit your body (arms legs tongue ears heart) and its desires and appetites fully to Heavenly Father so that you have no more disposition to do evil but to do good continually, in the course of your daily comings and goings. I'd suggest you live entirely for one year as though you were a fully faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and then ask again. Take the step of faith into the unknown. Then you will have acted upon His word and will be entitled to His scriptural promise.

MOTW.

Basically, if I am reading this post correctly, you should fix yourself by doing all of these, don't forget the 10 commandments, get your temple recommend, help old ladies across the street etc.etc...etc..

Clearly the man made religion you believe to be "Truth" is not working for you (Mormonism), I was there before too.

I suggest you get your bible and open it to the book of John. Pray to Jesus (I know you aren't supposed to do that as a Mormon, but do it!) and ask him to reveal himself to you through his Word (the Bible). Then read starting with John 1. Jesus will reveal himself to you through his Word.  Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, he is your only hope, lay your trust in him alone!

I can tell you are zealous for God but you are simply looking in the wrong place!

I will be praying for you.

I will be praying for you!

Removed from the thread for proselyting.

Thank you for your concern...but, The LDS Church IS working for me.  I am finally back home.  This is thread of Searching then, years later, Thanksgiving.  Please rejoice with me in returning to the LDS Church.

I know there's 14 pages in this thread now, but CountryBoy is finding that Mormonism works for him and is returning, even with the knowledge of the messy history.

I started this thread (and forgot I had done so) almost 4 years ago.  I came back still searching and struggling.  The LDS Church does not really work for me....It fills me...testifies in me and through me.

And that is good

Yeah, the reason we don't is because we actually follow Christ's example and teachings.  He taught us to pray to the Father.

Ok....the Bishop called.  I have an appointment Sunday before Sac Meeting.....

not nervous...but anxious.

Please keep this in your prayers.

Awesome response

I am humbled by your responses. I must say, I am not discouraged by history such as MMM or things like that. I have serious with the Book of Mormon, it's origin and the story of Joseph Smith. I can deal with the other stuff. To me things like MMM are no worse than the Baptist-driven KKK.

I struggle. I thank you greatly for your words.....you cannot imagine my gratitude.

"Baptist-driven KKK". Hate and KKK, nothing more.

Enjoyed the pizza with the missionaries last night.  We had deep discussions.  Later, discussing that I walk 5 miles at about 530 each morning, they asked if they could join me.

So, this morning at 5:30 am, they showed up...and we walked 5 miles.  More great discussions.

Tomorrow.....I meet with the Bishop.

Wow…5:30, impressive…but necessary in hot places.  I used to do it in the summertime when visiting Utah…before the sun peeked up from behind the mountains and turned the valley into a frying pan.  Would go back to sleep for a few hours though.

Nice to hear that missionaries today are being trained well enough now to be able to deal with those who are wanting re-entry into the Church, people who have had serious and deep questions that they need answers to.

The training of our young people who are serving has to be well beyond elementary teachings. It's has to be more mature, more developed.

Good luck with the bishop. :)

It's so true.  Some of these missionaries are SO green and uneducated in the gospel.

But they carry such a sweet, innocent spirit, and that spirit can teach an awful lot.

Agreed.  They wear the Mantle...and we discuss that a lot.  But, for example, I asked them about the Bible.  Neither one had read it.  They knew the BoM, but not the Bible.  I to,d them to study their Bible!  The people they teach here may not accept the BofM initially and would only accept the Bible.  They need to know how to teach using the Bible, too.  Also told them if they ever had an investigator who was like that, to take me....I can help  :)

ok.....

Met with the Bishop for about 90 minutes.  We discussed where I was.  I told him about all the things that are going on and HAVE gone on.  We discussed my issues of what things caused me to leave the LDS Church.  We then discussed how I am doing with those.  I told him the answers I had received.  He told me he loved my answers and they were making him consider things he had not heretofore considered..."and that is a good thing".

He is going to talk with the Stake President to see where I need to go from here.  I told him I will do whatever it takes.  I told him I would rather NOT have a church court because I have no desire to relive 1989...but...if that is what I needed to do, I would.

He told me that, as I was speaking to him, he felt a VERY strong Spirit.  He said he has never felt that in an "ex-Mormon".  He said God is truly with me and that we needed to get me baptized ASAP.

I think the bus is now on those highways in Texas that gave an 85-mph speed limit........

I am incredibly happy and soooo at peace........
