Does anyone know what time the Rapture starts today?

For anyone else who was lost in a different way…

https://www.deseret.com/faith/2025/09/23/rapture-end-of-the-world-christians/

“In an interview with Centtwinz TV, an online channel, Mhlakela said he had a dream, in which he saw Jesus sitting on a throne.

“I would hear him very loud and clear: ‘I am coming soon,’” he said.

Jesus told him, he said, that on Sept. 23 and 24, he would come “to take my church.”

It’s not the first time that people have predicted the Rapture.”

(though this says the source is a pastor and I am reading elsewhere he is not)

Don’t panic if it doesn’t happen today (or is it don’t sit back and relax just yet?), apparently it could be tomorrow instead.

God is always saying He is coming quickly and then just doesn’t show or says He will come tomorrow.

I have two theories.

My first theory is that every one of the rapture predictions that have been made were all correct but none of us made the cut.

My second theory is that it's all a joke, in which case I still think that the Left Behind book series (and movies) would get the "end" times more correct if the second book and movie (the sequel) had been named:  Right Behind: Turning the Other Cheek.

I loved those books!

Perhaps this is a conspiracy to make the Christians look foolish.

The Lord could say that He was coming in a day and a half , and that might be as long as 1500 years from now.

Until I get a heads up from Pres. Nelson or his successor , I won't be losing any sleep over it.

I suspect that if He does not arrive in the next few years , I will already be available to come down with Him.

Tiny setback, rapture postponed

Since He likely has a Middle Eastern ethnic appearance this could indeed be a problem. Maybe that's why He's going to gather up His real followers to meet Him in the clouds before He heads to Earth...He needs a nice cushion of people to prevent all His other followers (the ones who didn't absorb the golden rule lessons very well) from trying to oust Him from the country because His skin is brown.

(So very American-centric... It's not like He's even coming here first.)

I follow the interpretation of 1 Thessalonians 4:17 that suggests that Paul's imagery is not about heading out for a permanent home in the clouds, but about a Roman-era custom. When a dignitary or king would visit a city (parousia in Greek), the citizens would go out to "meet" them (apantēsis) outside the city gates and then escort them back in for a triumphant entry. Under this view, believers are caught up in the clouds to meet Christ, then immediately return with him to earth. No rapture. But maybe a fun parade.

I'm hoping the whole "cloud" thing is largely metaphorical if it happens while I'm alive though. It's cold and the air is thin at that height, and I'm getting old. Not saying I wouldn't go meet Him anyway, just that it doesn't sound terribly comfortable. If the imagery is not metaphorical, I hope He comes in the winter when my coats are already out of storage. 😐

People make themselves look foolish all on their own. Conspiracies are rarely involved. 😄

I really hope President Nelson doesn't attempt to pinpoint any exact date. That would make him a false prophet. Christ said even He didn't know when He would be back, only God had that information. That may have changed at this point, He has a broader view of the world now, but I lean toward the theory that only God knows, because He's the one that will pick the time. And it will be based on our behavior, not at some pre-determined hour or day. In other words, when it happens is flexible. Certain things have to happen first and certain conditions will be present, then God says, "Ok, now."

I could be wrong, but that's been my general impression. I'm willing to accept counter arguments.

A parade where everyone gets involved could be fun.
