He is the perfect balance of being merciful and just.

In a word, God is good!

In English and German, both words are closely linked, and it appears that, accounting for some consonant shift, also in Slavic languages

As I have mentioned before, I am rereading all the scriptures this year. People have presented God as either the OT vengeful , angry God , or a loving , kind God from the NT. The D&C revelations seem to tend toward the former.

If required to present a profile of God from your reading of the scriptures and personal interaction, what would you list as the main 3 or 4 traits that God has ?

Likes good things.

Hates bad things.

Loves everybody while still hating all forms of sin.

Is the most perfectly good person anybody could possibly know.

Oh, and he is super intelligent, and already knows everything about everything.

Btw, I'm assuming you're using the word "God" to refer to our Father in heaven.  Jesus and the Holy Spirit are God, too, also being the same kind of being he is.  And we are also the same kind of being he is, and they are. Generally though when we say God we are referring to him.

The default "He" is in many of these replies, did you notice that? How does it influence your thoughts on God and what God is like?

God is a parent.  Good parents love and value their children.  They comfort their children.  They provide for them.  They teach them.  They also discipline their children.  Parents sometimes get angry.  They do things that the children don’t like. They ultimately try to do what’s best for their children.  Our Heavenly Parents are the same way.

The Father is the one to whom we are to pray.  That was Christ's direct instruction.
He is also the one to whom Christ brings us and who is revealed by Christ.  I have no issue with that.

But whenever the term God is brought up my mind considers the united male and female.  That is what is a God.  There are no single Gods.  In eternity there are no male Gods alone or female Gods alone.
Godhood requires male and female.  All else is an end to progression.

Does the fact that we default to "He" influence my thoughts on God.  Only inasmuch as Christ's instructions influence my thoughts on God.  Or Joseph's revelations.  Or the scriptures.
But I remember the first time I heard the doctrines of the sacred feminine as a young man.  They sang true to me from the first I thought on them.

That's because we usually use the word "God" to refer to our Father in heaven.   So it's a matter of habit to think we are referring a him, rather than a they, even though the word God is also used to refer to the kind of being our Father is, both male and female.

To avoid this confusion in the future I suppose we all could refer to our Father as our Father rather than as God, and then use the word God only to refer to the kind of being our Father is, but somehow I get the feeling that not everybody would go along with that idea.

In many ways but that is the gender pronoun prophets and apostles have used and the one Jesus himself used. I would gladly change the pronouns or change the address to the Father to encompass all that encompasses Eloiheim and on some mental levels I do but teaching it or making it more overt would be hopping off the good ship Zion and trying to swim ahead of it because you are sure you know where it is going. There is danger of drowning if it is wrong.

One aspect but not the whole.

The only aspect that matters.  Indeed, there is an archaic frame for time which one finds virtually everywhere, which tells of the return of the lost golden age someday.  Whether we accept that the return of the rule of Kronos-Saturn (as described by Virgil's Fourth Eclogue before Christ) under the sign of Pisces and Virgo actually took place at the birth of Jesus,[1] it must be noted that Saturn is to be identified as the Lord and Pivot of the Mill of the Gods, i.e., he is Polaris, and Polaris is none other than the "north nail" or "World Nail"[2] at the center of the Circumpolar Stars of God (His Divine Assembly).  This calls to mind that Saturn is to be identified as Yahweh/Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, whose painful crucifixion is so poignant.  Jesus is High Priest, King, sacrificial Lamb, and God,[3] and the New Testament assigns to him even more than this short listing!!  That he should also be the central nail or peg of the turning mill of time and destiny, and the way into and out of the watery abyss or Maelstrom of death and hell is actually entirely appropriate.  For that is all that really matters.

     [1] G. de Santillana & H. von Dechend, Hamlet's Mill, (Boston: Gambit, 1969/Godine, 1977), 59,133-136,222-224,244-245,261,268-269,340,399-401, and passim.

     [2] De Santillana & von Dechend, Hamlet's Mill, 123.

[3] The late Jacob Milgrom comments that "it seems strange that the high priest is both expiator and the expiated, that he officiates for his own sin" (Milgrom, Leviticus 1-16, Anchor Bible, 232, re Leviticus 4:5).  As Hebrews points out, however, Jesus as high priest had no need to expiate his own sin.

I disagree.  There is more to eternity than just being able to escape hell.  We don't need the Terrestrial or the Celestial Kingdoms if all that really mattered was escaping death, physical and spiritual.

Isn't that the difference between salvation and exaltation.

None are lost (unsaved) but not all are exalted.

Robert, I love that you are so willing to give points to posts that disagree with you (whether they actually disagree with you or the interpretation of you).  I remember you doing this to several of my posts and others.

Jesus is the focus and sine qua non, without whom all would be lost, exaltation and everything.  All the hemming and hawwing would then be irrelevant.  He is literally the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  Without him, we would have nothing.  Nothing but the cold of Outer Darkness.
