To say it another way, personal perspective can be, and very often is, wrong. Truth, by definition, cannot be wrong. Publish it and be famous.

You may see an eye, but is that the “true pattern”? Let’s say that at one angle the dots look like a horse and at another they look like an eye, which pattern is the truth? I saw at least 2 meaningful patterns before the eye

I am increasingly of a mind that "it" doesn't. "Truths" exist. Lower-case "truths", infinitely malleable "truths". I am ever more agnostic about "Truth". 1

It needs to be debunked because it's nonsense. a society that denies that truth exists is a society full of liars I think people are generally genuine in their disagreement about what will help them be happy or, at the very least, survive in what can be a very difficult world, even if they admit that Truth is elusive to the senses.

But if you want to try to get me banned, have at it. Might be for the best. I’ve been feeling more and more like I don’t fit in here anyway. Feel you, my friend. 1

Scott, if your beliefs, particularly your religious beliefs, bring you joy then you know enough. There is no marginal benefit in the question begging exercise of attempting to prove they are absolute truths...

When I go to a shopping mall or any public place locally- if I even take care to notice it, I am OFTEN the only "white" person in the entire store or maybe there may be 1 or 2 others, but I almost never even notice it. In my ward we are probably 70% Hispanic and Black, and several Islander families. In fact probably the whole stake is about the same mix ethically. We have translation into two languages besides English at Stake conference- but of course most speak English regardless of ethnicity, but we do have non-English speaking wards and branches in our stake so translation is provided. I have had visitors come and actually be frightened at being the only "white" person in a public place. They definitely notice it and feel uncomfortable. And no, I do not live in a "bad" part of town at all. Mansions everywhere. Hard working unified families, and virtually no crime, GOOD folks and great families. The lowest price house is around $700k It is actually weird for me to be in a white majority situation. And so I notice it as others notice might notice the opposite. It's just weird. But where is the church growing the fastest? Don't you think it might be good PR for the public face of the church to look more like those who live where the growth is? No, I guess they just have to get used to diversity right? Why then don't we do so? But this is a derail- I will say no more about it here. "Ethical mix" = racist. 😎 1

OrdainWomen made a big noise imo about having the same opportunity as men to hear the words prophets were speaking as they were spoken. Which I didn't have a problem with. They got their wish when the Church announced it would be broadcasted. My husband rejoiced and probably lots of others as well as now he could watch it at home. Otoh, the news footage showed them just talking with each other in the park where they met during the session, so it didn't look like anyone took advantage of it when offered in this fashion. Not to say whether or not they watched or listened or read talks later, I just thought it was rather strange after making such a big deal about hearing the word at the same time. Even for PR purposes I think it would have looked better to show women intent on listening when given the chance.

Its about as close to going to China that you can get in America without going to China.
Storm Rider Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Really enjoyed the young men that were singing for the closing hymn in Priesthood meeting. 1

Probably too late to answer this, but the broadcast was carried live over BYU TV Channel 11 at 6 pm. I believe it also available in on-demand streaming on the Church’s website. I’ll check now, and if I’m wrong will come back and correct it.

Calm Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Is conference shown on byutv over the next week or two? Mom missed it due to spending the day in bed and she is not tech savvy enough these days to do much more than turn her tv to two channels, ksl and byu. I am trying to figure out how I can get the TV onto the main floor so she can come over and watch it here, but she doesn't really want to do that. I only use apps these days so have no idea what is on regular tv.

I really enjoyed the ... whole ... dang ... thing! I may have had the odd Conference Saturday off in the last, almost 4 years and been able to watch it, but, if so, I don't remember, and to the best of my knowledge, this is the first one I've seen live in all that time. Marvelous, marvelous, marvelous!!! Hallelujah! OK. That's it. We now return you to your regularly-scheduled programming. 5
