Popular Post mfbukowski Posted April 6, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 6, 2019 Elder Neal Anderson "What is Truth?" We learn it through the Holy Ghost.. We see it through faith and are spiritually discerned- Elder Held's immediately preceding talk mentioned. Wonderful graphics showing how truth reveals itself in different perspectives. Prophets get revelation for OUR day. Law of Chastity/ Proclamation- defended. 5

I understand announcing all new main general authorities, but it seems like they could cut out listing off all the Area Seventies. I enjoy listening for anyone I know getting "promoted" That actually happens here in the "Mission Field". Guys you hung out with end up as temple presidents and GA's !

GG Yes, among the Area Seventies especially. They have geographical assignments and are apt to serve close to home, maintaining their livelihoods while serving in the Church callings.

bluebell Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 What was Elder Wada’s 2nd point that feasting on the word helps us with? I got 1 and 3 but not 2.

MustardSeed Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I’m more than a little disappointed. I spent some hard green to buy internet access for my flight . It’s apparently too slow to stream. Thanks for updates. I mean I can watch it later but it’s not NOW.

In your perspective, probably. I suggest you listen to more than one line of the talk and see the whole thing as the perspectives evolve.

It's not great but there's not a lot of diversity in the church within driving distance of SLC. Our ward is pretty diverse but I don't think most could handle the commute. 😛 2

He is expressing “his truth” 😁 He established that absolute truth (God’s truth) exists, and that our individual perspectives (our truth) affects our experience with it. He established that the elephant does indeed exists, but as Elder Uchtdorf previously noted that we are all still blind men with individual perspectives (our truth) of THE Truth (God’s perspective) - the elephant. 6
Okrahomer Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 If Bluebell’s son is singing with that BYU group today—what a blessing! Jesus Once of Humble Birth was amazing. 2

A good example of reification by calling it "relativism" while it was about epistemology. Did you notice that he did not mention HOW we find out what "absolute truth" IS without looking at different perspectives, but illustrated it instead? I am not an enemy of absolute truth- but a huge fan! It is found by Opposition and "Proving Contraries" - and different perspectives- which all lead to ONE TRUTH when you follow all the paths- turning them around and around until they all line up. And that includes all perspectives- science AND spirit. And all you saw was "relativism" vs "Truth"? That's your truth and I will keep mine thank you. 1

It did not teach that the image the dots made was accurate regardless of the pattern they made. Edited April 6, 2019 by bluebell 2
