I get the feeling that this is more a part of President Nelson's ministering initiative than membership volume. The Church can afford to build and Pres. Nelson wants all members to have easy access. 2

I loved the whooping, hooting, and hollering... joyous news... but seriously, my reaction was that I got true goosebumps at what IMO is the implication of 12 temples that goes far deeper than Pres Nelson just wanting all members to have easy access... I view it as part of the "hastening" of the work... I believe the great work of the millenium will be the temple ordinances, and we can look forward to even more temples in diverse places... The Sacramento Temple must be less than an hour away. I never would have imagined there were enough Saints up there to warrant it. 1

Even if the member population is not really great in some of those areas, they could still be good conversion helps when family sealings and work for ancestors are taught a beautiful facility is close or fairly close by. (Don't Salt Lake and Manti still use them?) Maybe. I don't know if Mesa, AZ counts as "pioneer" or not. It was opened in 1927. It had the movies and is being redone. It will take 2 years. They are also doing extensive changes to the ground and the visitor's center. Which reminds me of an experience I had across the street. One day I was at the park when a couple were walking down the sidewalk. They may have been homeless, on drugs, have mental illness problems. I'm not really sure, just know there are many in the area with these struggles. Suddenly the woman stops and exclaims, "oh no! The temple burned down!" She seemed quite upset. I calmed her down by telling her the temple had not burned down. What she was looking at was the stage for the pageant. Then I helped her see that the visitor's center was still there to the side of the stage and then the temple in back.I showed her where the Christus statue was in the VC and that at night you could usually see it. I don't know what she is going to think if she comes along again and sees the visitor's center has been torn down. Edited October 8, 2018 by Rain 1

No. We had converted to video presentation long before I was ever aware. The renovation did not change that. Idaho Falls is still one of the few that moves through 5 rooms in the endowment. 1

That’s the stat I’d love to see! I do love to hear them announced, but then I hear many don’t even get built or started. Any one know the stats? (Thanks if you do!)
