And so it begins....the next predictable step.

Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho will reportedly "marry" two women at the same time during a small wedding ceremony in August.

While polygamy is outlawed in Brazil, O Dia (h/t Dan Gartland of Sports Illustrated) reported civil unions between more than two persons is not uncommon. Ronaldinho, Priscilla Coelho and Beatriz Souza already live together.

Thoughts?

Polygamy is already legal in Muslim countries, and in some non-Muslim countries like the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and South Africa (where it is legal only for Muslims).  Even Britain has given limited recognition to polygamous families.

Law of the land...hmmm.  Think I've read about that somewhere.

"I now publicly declare that my advice to the Latter-day Saints is to refrain from contracting any marriage forbidden by the law of the land."    Pres. Wilford Woodruff - Declaration ending plural marriage in the Church.

I see little reason to not allow legal polygamist marriages.  It is just like your straight one wife marriage.  I don't want one, but I respect the right for you to have such a marriage.

This is the 21st century and we should be more "progressive"  Hence the importance of this article  "Sophia robot creator predicts humans will be marrying androids by 2045" https://www.christiantoday.com/article/sophia-robot-creator-predicts-humans-will-be-marrying-androids-by-2045/129381.htm

We should get ahead of the curve and give these robots rights now so we can be on the right side of history.

I thought it was interesting that in Brazil, bigamy is illegal but a three-way union isn't.  So, if he married one and then the other he would be breaking the law, but because he's marrying them both at the same time, he's in the clear.

I've never objected to consenting adults deciding to live polygamy.  It's the marrying of 14 year old girls and other teens plus the lies told to hide this type of behavior (keeping the truth from their wife/wives) that is wrong to do, IMO.

Next up: Man marries two women who are married to each other. Group marriages are coming.

As long as it's all between consenting adults, do you care?  If no one is being coerced, lied to or deceived, hurt, and no one is under age....do you really care?  I wouldn't chose to live polygamy, but if others do and they are all adults with full knowledge of what they are entering into, I honestly do not care.

So incestuous marriage between adult siblings is cool in your book?

I guess as long as they don't have kids what grown ups do is their own business.  It is all a part of agency.  We should err on the side of agency since that is the side that Christ advocated.

Not cool and pretty horrendous to imagine or see....but if they are both adults and no one is being forced or coerced, that's their business, I guess.  I doubt that type of marriage will become legal, but I can see polygamous marriages being allowed eventually.

Are there any restrictions you would agree with?

Maybe a false alarm. He denies he’s going to marry the two women he lives with. Marrying them would be disgraceful. What  a relief!

Football legend Ronaldinho has opened up on reports he is to marry two women at the same time. Reports in Brazil suggested the former Barcelona star, 38, will tie the knot with his two fiancees in August this year.Ronaldinho has reportedly been living "harmoniously" with both Priscilla Coelho and Beatriz Souza at his £5million Rio de Janeiro mansion since December. The Brazil legend was in the West Zone of the city on Thursday for the launch of his R10 brand and he rebuffed the claims.

"The whole world is calling me," he told SporTV when asked about the reports. I'm not going to get married, it is the biggest lie."

Ronaldinho started dating Beatriz in 2016, but is said to have continued his relationship with Priscilla, which began several years earlier.

I notice how the church's practice of polygamy led them right to incestuous marriages, 3 way marriages and every other conceivable form of marriage.

Kind of ironic for church members today to use slippery slope arguments disproved by their own church's past history.

The android rights and sex robot things are getting lots more positive attention. This month’s Wired magazine has a featured article with an extensive interview with a manufacturer. Odd stuff, but given the way things are going, not surprising..

Was that an answer to my question or to others’ comments? Are there any restrictions you would approve of?

I think society ought to stop prior to legalizing incest.  Although how did Cain and Able reproduce? :shok:

What would be your argument against incestual marriage?

He’s following the Prophet.

My other thought is that it would be incredible to see a Mormon object to someone’s right to marry more than one wife. In fact, it would be staggering.

So long as that someone is not a Mormon (LDS church) and there are laws in the country stating civil polygamous marriages are legal then there should be no objection.

Birth defects.  There is a higher chance of a harmful mutation expressing itself if the gene pool is closely related.

I think that's why Cain could marry a sister. No mutations have had time to develop.
