Who heard the disruption?

S.O indicate someone shouted out just before or during sustainings. Reddit forum reports what the statement was.

Couldn't totally make it out. Were they accusing someone who had just gotten a new calling of being a sexual predator? Or was it about the Joseph Bishop guy?

Not sure how people don't understand that there is a proper way to address these concerns. In fact they constantly repeat it in conference.

I think it was "Stop protecting sexual predators" (but others are saying that they heard Bishop's name, so I'm not sure).   It was pretty audible and stated 3 times before they cut the mic, from what I could tell.

If that’s it then it’s silly to protest for something we never did

Unfortunately people do it all the time.

I'm sure many disagree with you.  Was Joseph Bishop ever formally disciplined or held accountable?

(I imagine he will be now, but that's up to his leaders of course.)

I know many will also differentiate between protecting him vs. not disciplining him or holding a church court for him.

By the way, if you think the disruption was wrong or even in bad form, the fact you are talking about it only furthers the goal of the person who disrupted.

Do you know for a fact they cut the mic, or did the guy just run out of steam?

I read elsewhere that they cut the mic.  But I wasn't there and have no way of knowing that for sure.  Maybe someone who knows more can post (?)

The disruption was so obtrusive and obvious, talking about it (or being silent about it, for that matter) is not going to make a great deal of difference.

I thought it sounded like a woman, but didn't understand all the words...

You can listen again at the link above.  And, I agree...it sounds like a woman to me....

(I also think she only stated it 3 times, but maybe they cut the sound or mic?)

I disagree, talking about it on the internet is going to make a great deal of difference. The more it is mentioned, the more people will be exposed to what was said. For example, if no one else responds to this thread, those that do not log into the forum today are unlikely to read the thread.

By the way, I am fine with talking about it. I have even stated elsewhere I would like to think I would say "Nay" if I were able to attend conference and a sustaining vote came up. I think the shouting about Bishop is uncalled for. But really, in this age of snapchat, tweet, facebook and so on, talking about stuff makes a whole lot of difference.

Never something I would do under any condition.  Maybe I am just shy; maybe my folks just raised me to never act in such a manner. Regardless, I am grateful it was not me nor anyone related to my family.  Let's move on.  Bad behavior should just be forgotten and ignored.

While I agree with Scott, I intentionally leave out phrases that might assist a search engine.

Could have been a woman.

I only heard on the TV transmission while it was happening live, and I've not taken time to investigate or even reflect on it much.

Unwelcome shouting out during a sacred convocation for any reason is always inappropriate, boorish and disrespectful.

That is sort of the point of descent. Hopefully I would be sitting near some local new reporter who felt offended enough to give my poor behavior the write up it deserved.

I'm just grateful it was during second session and not during the solemn assembly.  A disruption during that would have been just plain wrong.
