Rain Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 I want the church to help me and everyone else become what God wants us to become. I think the church is doing pretty good in some areas. In other areas where the church struggles with it we may be becoming like God wants us to be by growing stronger through the struggles. 3

And: I want the Church to be humble, contrite, and forthcoming when, in the Name of Christ and/or the name of the Church, one or several of it's representatives fall short and err. AND--I want the Church to strike a better balance between holding members to account for their failings and showing such members compassion, mercy, and and unconditional love despite their failings. Nofear Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 I want a church where people sincerely endeavor to be the kind of person that the leaders and members of the church to be. No, scratch that. I want everyone *else* to simply be more patient and tolerant of me and all my personal failings. And for a bonus, they should all understand the gospel in the same way I do. 1
california boy Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 It is too bad so many turned your thread into a joke. I thought it was a very valid question to ask and deserved some thoughtful answers. 1
Nofear Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 (edited) At least for me, the levity merely attempts to camoflauge my own hypocrisy and hence is a self-affirming condemnation of my own words. Still, they would indeed be good things if we were all better at doing them. The bonus desire is a bit more subtle. I'm quite certain some of my opinions/understandings of the gospel are inadequate to wrong. I just don't know which ones those are. Edited March 31, 2018 by Nofear Added more clarity (I hope) 1

I thought it was a very valid question to ask and deserved some thoughtful answers. Well, it was fun for a bit. I wanted to post Janis Joplin's song about God buying her a Mercedes Benz, but you've ruined that now. Just kidding! Seriously, his question practically invited joking response. Especially from this loopy crew. But there is still time for serious and thoughtful answers.
Stargazer Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 No, seriously. I just can't help it! Before you all start getting more serious, as the topic deserves, one more...

changed Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 I need to hear a GC talk that: invites those who have left the church to return, and outlines the steps for returning addresses abuse and infidelity something empowering to women - encouraging them to work, and to leave bad situations were there any talks like that yesterday? I missed it... was in hospital... 1
