The following was posted in the Salt Lake Craig's list:

"Looking to find someone with a foreign LDS mission call that does not want to go foreign. I have a stateside one to Chicago, Spanish speaking that I will trade you. If we are both willing to trade I bet there is a way to talk to the mission presidents, or someone, and get our calls traded. Please, I need this."

LDS Mission call trade?

You think he will get any takers? Will he be successful?  I don't think so.

Um .... no. Very unlikely to have any takers. And certainly not likely to have a "switch" approved by the respective mission presidents. Presidents don't even issue calls.

If this YM is serious about wanting a different call, he should talk it over with his local leaders. It's a long shot, but who knows. He could also decline the call and then try again in another 6 months or a year. But he'd have to answer then why his heart had changed.

I'd hate to be this sister if the members in areas in which I serve (and have served) find out I tried to trade mission calls on Craig's List ... even in jest. Ouch! :huh:

I take calls nationwide for Lexus to download destinations to customers' GPS units, which, of course, includes Chicago.  Some places in the area, I wouldn't be caught dead in, lest I be ... you know, caught dead :mega_shok: ... Others, I'm sure, are solidly middle class, and still others, I'd have to present my W-2 for examination before they'd let me in. :D  That makes it similar to a lot of other places: New York, Los Angeles, or most any major metropolitan area.  Heck, Salt Lake hardly qualifies as a major metropolitan area, but there are places even there that I wouldn't be caught dead in.

Wow!  That's good to know.  If someone offers me Snickerdoodles, I just take the cookies and vanish.  They don't even have to say anything.  Maybe I'm partly Albertan.

Duncan, if you haven't heard of Snickerdoodles, maybe you haven't heard of Monkey Poo's or Haystacks a.k.a. no-bake cookies. Recipe here in case you haven't...

no-bake chocolate peanut butter oatmeal cookies
1/2 c butter
2 c sugar (I used a scant 2 cups)
1 t salt
1/2 c milk
4 T cocoa
1/2 c peanut butter
3 to 3 1/2 c old-fashioned oats
2 T vanilla

In a medium sized saucepan, mix together the first five ingredients and bring to a boil. Let boil for 1 minute and then remove from heat. Add in remaining ingredients and then use a teaspoon to drop the mixture onto cookie sheets lined with waxed paper. Chill until set. Keep in refrigerator.
