Popular Post Storm Rider Posted August 27, 2014 Popular Post Posted August 27, 2014 Nah.. Tacenda, I would like to think differently about her; however, she lies and has lied about her entire excommunication process from the beginning. She has never once appealed to God; only to herself, her opinion; and the demand that all others bend their will to her opinion. Who acts like that? Where does the Spirit play a role? How does a Spirit play a role with someone like this? I generally find humility is a common characteristic with those that follow after Christ. There may be those with a strong personality, but humility remains. Where has this individual demonstrated humility? I have wasted enough time on her, her actions, and her incessant media tantrums. I think I need to spend my time on more enjoyable activities; a root canal, sticking needles in my eyes, or ramming screws under my finger nails. 7
Raingirl Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Kate Kelly is at it again: We all know she was not "excommunicated for stating a fact." And once again Kate Kelly is working to publicize her bishop's employer. I previously asked the OW group to explain why she is publicizing this information, as I suspect she is attempting to engineer a Brendan Eich-type blowback on her bishop. As punishment. Retribution. An "inquisition" which consisted of kindly-worded letters and other communications. Kate Kelly abuses the word when she applies it to her circumstance. It serves as both a baseless calumny against the Church and also a rather perverse form of self-aggrandizement.I think we can expect to see her publish her letter to the First Presidency in the near future. It will be interesting to see if she calls them to repentance.Thanks,-SmacWow.She seems to no longer even have a nodding acquaintance with the truth. And don't even get me started at the twisting and manipulating and the me-me-me focus.Just.....wow. 2
Ahab Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 smac, I think your avatar is very fitting as a start to most of your threads but sometimes using your hands for a big yawn would be more appropriate than grasping your head in shock or disbelief. This is just the way KK is now. Get over it already.
VideoGameJunkie Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Does anyone here feel that Satan is pleased with what Kate Kelly is doing?
Ahab Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Does anyone here feel that Satan is pleased with what Kate Kelly is doing?Uh huh. Especially that she believes she deserves the holy priesthood.
VideoGameJunkie Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 And it's interesting you use the word deserves. No one who is humble feel they deserve anything from God.
halconero Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) I'm having trouble trying to find a link between the Secret Jews on the Spanish side of my family, and Kate Kelly's experience with the Inquisition. Can anybody help here? I'm having trouble finding the Huffington post article on the confiscation of her property by Church authorities, as well as their use of thumb screws and fiery stakes.Edit: The more I study the tradition of apostolic authority and succession, both in the ancient Church, the Restored one, and the Orthodox and Catholic branches of Christianity, the less and less inclined I am to deviate from the apostle's councils, despite whatever inclinations I might have otherwise. This, while recognize their mortal fallibility, by maintaining faith in Christ and his leadership of the Kingdom. I'm growing far less tolerant of outright dissent, while also growing more loving towards the dissenter. Edited August 27, 2014 by halconero 4
Popular Post Calm Posted August 27, 2014 Popular Post Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Does anyone here feel that Satan is pleased with what Kate Kelly is doing?I think he and all those who delight to see contention and distrust of each other among the family of saints are probably pleased with those who are angry with her or in other ways not viewing her with charity we are asked by God to show even our enemies (I don't see KK as my enemy, I feel no need to give her that kind of power over me, I feel very sad for her and the pain she is causing herself and others, I feel sorry for those who feel the need to attack or belittle her or who would delight in hearing her suffer).I am not suggesting anyone on this board is doing so, I am only pointing out that if Satan is pleased with what she is doing, there are a number of saints I am aware of who are supplying him with pleasure because of their treatment of her. I think it is important to be aware of some one like KK because there are those who are persuaded by her tactics to distrust the Church and unfortunately even God (though I don't think that is her intention), but that awareness should IMO work to help us recognize the wrongs and judge them (the behaviours) accordingly in righteous and charitable judgment so we can better forgive her and forgive ourselves and others who have reacted badly and forgotten the way of the Lord. VideoGameJunkie Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Well said cal! That's a great way at looking at the situation through Christ's eyes.

I know her earthly parents support her, but I can imagine the great love Heavenly Father has for her and how much this must pain him. When one of my children has done something wrong, especially when it hurts another of them, I understand the need for the sibling to talk about the hurt, but it would pain me if the sibling mocked and made fun of my child in the wrong.

Senator Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Perhaps we should move this thread over to Social Hall. Why? So people can take back the nasty things they've said about her? Yeah, right!
smac97 Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Does anyone here feel that Satan is pleased with what Kate Kelly is doing? I think it is inappropriate to make comments like this. It is uncharitably speculative. Thanks, -Smac 2
Storm Rider Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I think identifying the difference between righteousness actions and evil actions is a healthy topic of discussion. I also think that confusing the two is why this type of discussion is both valid and helpful.
smac97 Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Here is one part of the article linked to in which I think deserves mention: Having faced persecution after its founding in the 19th Century, the LDS Church continued to encounter hostility and suspicion, and is still sensitive to criticism. Kate Kelly has crossed a red line, says Kathleen Flake, a professor of Mormon studies at the University of Virginia. Mormonism functions as a family, she says. "And if the family's going to fight, it's very disloyal to have that fight outside the family." I think this is right. This may also help explain the occasional alarmingly vicious response to Kate Kelly we see from otherwise decent and kindhearted Latter-day Saints. I live in Utah and work as an attorney. I have noticed how some litigants in family law settings really let the claws come out in ways that they would otherwise never demonstrate. Divorce can bring out the worst in people. There is something viscerally upsetting about the termination of a marriage, so much so that a Latter-day Saint who is regularly kind and kindhearted in his/her interactions and communications in other situations can immediately turn harsh and angry in their tone and outlook when dealing with a former spouse. I think the feelings of betrayal in such dealings become acute. Perhaps so it is with Kate Kelly. She is seen as having betrayed the Church, as being disloyal. Frankly, that seems like a fair and objectively accurate assessment. Latter-day Saints do not align themselves with apostates, or take unto themselves authority to make doctrinal demands of the Brethren, or to publicly defy the Church and its leaders, or to trespass onto and protest on sacred ground, or to protest with the calculated intent of disrupting and distracting from the Church's sacred convocations, or repeatedly publicly malign and defame local leaders, or call the Church to repentance, and on and on and on. That said, attributing satanic motives to Kate Kelly is wholly inappropriate. Although she has done many things which are very inappropriate and wrong, she is still a daughter of our heavenly father. She is still a good person in many ways. I think at present she is extremely angry and is lashing out again and again, not unlike a person going through a divorce. So we are catching her at her worst. Or, to be more precise, she is publicizing herself at her worst. Were she to rage against the Church with just her family and trusted friends (as people going through a divorce normally do), we would not be having this discussion. But occasionally people going through a divorce take their grievances public, and in so doing alienate from themselves people who would otherwise be sympathetic. Thanks, -Smac 3
Ahab Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Why?So people can take back the nasty things they've said about her?Yeah, right!I don't think I've seen anyone say anything nasty about her, and I'm really not interested in hearing you tell me anything nasty that anyone has said about her even if you're just trying to tell me some nasty things that others have said about her. I've only seen that she has said a lot of things that Satan would say while being deceptive, manipulative, and unreceptive to the truth while trying to influence many people toward her side, and when I see that from anyone I just sigh and turn to go the other way. 2
Senator Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I don't think I've seen anyone say anything nasty about her.... Oh well..... I think its time for me to move on.
wenglund Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Nah, its funner to talk crap about her and thrust her to hell in her absence. All the better for her victim scam. Thanks, -Wade Englund-
Tacenda Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) As I weigh in on Kate Kelly, I don't mind her personally. I ran into her in the bathroom at Sunstone Symposium after her presentation, and just told her "good job". Didn't know what to say, she was very nice. I did read where her mom spoke yesterday at the Salt Lake "Equal in Faith" event and said that Utah is annually in the top-ten for sexual & domestic violence per capita. I guess she attributed it to how Utah patriarchy can negatively affect women. So I searched and searched the internet for those statistics. So far I'm coming up empty, except I did find Utah was in the 8th spot for registered sex offenders, not sure if that is close to what she is saying. But if Donna Kelly is correct then that is worrisome. Edited August 27, 2014 by Tacenda

MorningStar Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I am actually starting to agree with you on this one. She seems to be enjoying the limelight. Calling what happened an inquisition is ludicrous. Maybe she is taking advantage of the spotlight. She will be a bit more obscure when she goes to Kenya. Yeah, I don't like her extreme comparisons - inquisition, rape, etc. It minimizes how awful those things really are. I have a friend who can hardly function because of an assault she went through. 2
