Not so with Marijuana. THC levels vary from plant to plant, and, hence, from joint to joint and edible to edible (even when the edibles are "the same," came from the same batch, and so forth). Add to that the fact that its effect from person to person is much less predictable than it is with alcohol, and quickly, the potentially massive problems of gauging whether one is "safe" to drive with a particular measurable amount of THC in the system become readily It alters consciousness, and interferes with the Spirit. Not gonna happen imo 1

To my understanding, it was only recently (last few years) that the Church made a statement about medical marijuana - which is still illegal at the Federal level in the United States.

But before that medical marijuana was considered a joke and just an excuse to get high. I think that it is more is more a question of Intent. I don't think anyone eats chocolate and drinks Coke for a buzz. And even if they do it is such a mild buzz that it is hard to imagine calling it a recreational drug. Remember just a very few years ago it was somewhat scandalous that they started selling caffeinated beverages in the temple. To me that would be more like getting excited about your home team winning a game, and calling that high a recreational drug.

One of the best ways to shut up my stupid ADHD brain is to eat a lot. By the standard of altering my mental state I can argue that I only eat drugs.

Not really. I was raised in a house without caffeinated soda. My aunt corrupted me early and told me my mother drank a lot of Dr. Pepper as a kid. I drink it sometimes now but only strategically when I need the caffeine. With the medication I am on I don’t need it much anymore. Makes sense. Drinking a 2 liter of Mountain Dew is not too far off from my medication. I guess the Mountain Dew has more calories. Looking back it is probably a minor miracle that I didn’t become an energy drink junkie. Then again it could be argued I am an amphetamine junkie. I went off it for a month to find out if I still needed it. Withdrawal was horrible physically and mentally but it luckily wasn’t hard to stop. Once I made it through withdrawal and was back to pre-medicated life the old problems resurfaced. So I went back on medication. Sadly I did not get the same glorious peace/drug-high as I did when I first started on the meds. I guess it is true. It is never as good as the first time. I do make fun of people who treat Coca-Cola as if it were crack cocaine but there aren’t many of those left. 1

I've always wondered if they sing John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High" for one of the hymns at the Denver church. 1

The one true party system always encourages more ways to help others think correctly, which of course is defined by the One True Party. After all, one must keep the ignorant masses from spreading their errors and superstitions like religion for example ! Diversity of opinion causes social conflict, which cannot be tolerated. True Thought is of primary importance in these matters and must be handled only by those fully trained in what is Correct, even if the masses do not yet understand what is best for them. They must be Educated, by any means necessary, until they understand Politically Correct Thought, which leads to uniformity and world wide peace! Controlled entrepreneurship in helping control and calm the confused can be quite useful. Edited February 21, 2022 by mfbukowski
