"And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Luke 22:29-31" It turns out the vast majority of people (myself included) are woefully misinformed about the state of the world. Some here are some resources that can help individuals be informed. The warning voice does not necessarily need to be deadly; that would be counterproductive.

However, nearly all of us are just tadpoles in a small local pond within a huge world, within a massive universe. For most of us, information can give us a sense of control, which is an illusion. We might have a bit of control over a garden in our back yard, if we water it well and weed it occasionally. But most of us cannot control much beyond that, with our friends and family doing pretty much what they please. We might be helpful and supportive from time to time, but can do little beyond that. God Himself must feel that He is dealing with a large family of people He cannot control, who do pretty much whatever they want. Only His love and His grace can save us, not because we have actually done anything to deserve it. 2

Other things of note (no graphic attached): number of conflict deaths are down pretty significantly, military spending as percentage of gross income is down, percentage of population in military is down. Percent of pop in military is down because advanced weaponry is so much more efficient and destructive that fewer people are needed to man them. Professional armies cost less and are also more efficient. This trend will continue.

Boomers can only die for so long though.

My parents lives were, well, without much guidance from below, if you will, (my grandparents), but there was grace from above. My Mom (and Dad) didn't come to the faith that I now believe in until she was 70 years old in 2005 and Dad was 71. A few years later after Dad was gone, she came to the Ancient Catholic faith, as I understand religious things. Anyway...I hope and pray for you Rod, for your Mom and Dad, and all of your family, your wife, your kids, and everybody you love. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy. 3
