Garments only worn in the Temple?

Yeah, I saw the announcement on the Church's website. I have zero interest in being bound up in form-fitting, 'supportive' underclothing. The male body is designed so that certain parts are able to hang free and move about. As I've noted in a previous thread, there might be specific reasons why American men (inlcuding your husband) may prefer this new style. I personally can't think of anything more comfortable than a loose, light, breathable undershirt coupled with a similar pair of boxer shorts.

Can you share a link, I may be interested in the new style.

Wait... so... even if I lose my testimony of the truthfulness of the church, ~25% of members believe that I am still supposed to wear my g's???

This might be TMI - but I have not worn g's for a few years now - I took off my G's the same time I turned in my TR (refused to support pedophiles, and the organization who put and kept the pedophile who abused my kids into leadership position.)  Are there members who condemn me for taking them off?  really???

A broken covenant is something a faithful member will always condemn, regardless of whether you still believe in that covenant.  It was a promise you made to God, not the Church.

It's weird because if I keep my covenants with or without my garment, won't that keep me out of Satan's power anyways?

In my understanding, the garment we wear is a symbol for the actual garment (which is the body itself and/or the priesthood itself).  So, yes.

I don't think this was a question about other people--only what people understand for themselves.

 "wear throughout your life"

Which does not mean the same thing as 'every day all the time' (per the fabric garment).

And which does speak nicely of the body/priesthood (which are inseparable).

I doubt the church breaks even on the costs to manufacture garments.  I imagine they subsidize the cost for members to keep the cost low.

It just makes sense to me that they get out of the garment manufacturing business.

One good thing is that the church now lets you return garments when you've taken them out of the bag. Before you couldn't unless they were unopened.

The garment has numerous symbolisms.

Some are spoken in the initiatory, some are visibly evident at a sacred place,  some are inherent in the name "priesthood garment", and there are others.

Shouldn't they be the same example?

Each should follow their file leader in an unbroken chain back to Christ, not chart a new course.

Nope. The current prophet is more important and vital to us than a past prophet and can make changes as inspired by God that we should follow.
If not we would still be practicing polygamy.

Tangential question: If an endowed member wants to wear the garment, but does hold a temple recommend, what does he/she do If a new garment is needed?  Can those with temple recommends buy a garment for that individual?  Or, must that individual wear the garment beyond their inevitable yellowing?

Sorry, don't believe that.   The living prophet is is vital as long as he is following the course God revealed.

D&C 3:2 For God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round

D&C 132:8 Behold, mine house is a house of order, saith the Lord God, and not a house of confusion

I believe polygamy is an eternal law and principle in temporary restriction.  But I also believe it was revoked in the Church by God's prophet by revelation due to desires and agency of the members.

As such no, we should not be practicing this eternal law any more than the Children of Israel should have had the higher priesthood law when Moses came down from Sinai.

I think the church is operating in a very orderly fashion, because we have a prophet to guide us and keep it orderly.

No one asks who you are buying garments for, I buy for my mother and myself at the same time with two different sizes.  I do not know what the policy is though.  As far as I am aware, one is supposed to only stop wearing garments when instructed not to (excommunication and I assume resignation).

I don’t believe you need a current recommend to purchase.

untucked from the bottom and you have to shove them back in and ack, it's annoying.

So don't tuck them in. I certainly don't. Have you always tucked your undershirts into your underpants? I think that sounds horrible (and a bit geeky).

I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't have any ribbons on my garment tops (or bottoms). I don't think garments have had ribbons since around the 1950s, possibly earlier?

If you order online, your LDS Account knows that you're endowed.

I don't know you, so I'm in no position to either like or dislike you. My general inclination is to like people.

But you've made it quite obvious in the past that you adore the idea of plural marriage and wish it were currently a commandment.

... I'm surprised at the results of the exercise answer as well, considering isn't that a comment they specifically mention at the temple recommend interview that you can remove them for certain activities.  Who would want to be sweating up a storm running a marathon or playing a basketball game wearing garments?

The last Temple Recommend interview I had, which was some time ago, admittedly, actually, it was the opposite: Endowed members should wear the garment during any activity for which it reasonably can be worn. If, in fact, that standard has changed, odd duck that I am, I'm unlikely to alter my personal standard.  (Though, in the exceedingly unlikely event that I ever engage in intimacy with someone, while others' mileage may vary, I'm not wearing it for that ...)

Right.  The facts that, basically, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had been disincorporated as an entity, its property had been seized, and its leaders had been hounded into hiding had nothing to do with it. (It is arguable, though, whether other recent changes might have occurred for that reason, so ...)

I once knew a member whose wife was involved in their manufacture.  He said, "It's a sweatshop.  It's a sacred sweatshop, but ..." :D :D

You do if you buy them at Deseret Book. They always ask to see it. I’m not sure how it works online.

OK, now you've really lost me. There is no spandex in any of my garments. Are you talking about the elastic waistband? If so, why did you mention that it was the tops that wear out? Also if so, maybe try a larger size?

I disagree. I shop at the Deseret Book in Layton Utah. And have never had to show mine. They just look up my name and see that I've been endowed, maybe they see that my recommend isn't current as well, don't know, but I've yet to be turned down. I have my recommend on me even, but never shown it. Try it bluebell, they'll just look you up without it.
