Luke 12:1-3 For our ward conference bishopric meeting, the stake president chose to discuss a major controversy which arose in our ward over the types of bread permitted for sacrament. Bishop wanted only plain white bread. Other members were ok with any kind of bread and our stake high councilor told the stake president about the problem. We spent 45 minutes discussing which sacrament bread will be permitted and which will not be and why. Well......don’t keep us in suspense.....WHAT HAPPENED? 3

We have a couple of young bakers in our ward who have been making up some really nice home-made bread for sacrament, of various flavors. I can't imagine arguing about what type is "proper" I think keeping things simple is best. Store-bought white or basic wheat bread does the trick. Once we had a young man bring some home-made bread to use in the Sacrament. It was perhaps some sort of pumpernickel. It was not to everyone's liking, and in fact made one young girl gag and forced her to run out of the chapel. Thanks, -Smac 1

Sorry that wasn't clear. In essence the point is, as the church expects less and provides less opportunity for members to be together in holy places, people will continue to expect less of their church community. It will be a place of Sunday worship, and little else. Wards won't be families any more. They'll just be standard congregations that may or may not have their boundaries changed every 2 years. People come to church. People leave. The sense of community is lost. I hope that helps you understand the point a little more. Except they just made it clear that they expect us to be ministering to one another more. That indicates to me that they want us socializing and meeting more 2

Thanks, -Smac I prefer home baked white and wheat but yeah, exotic kinds of bread are probably best avoided. The body of Christ should not taste like pumpernickel.

We had our stake conference this weekend (Dec 8-9). In the concluding session on Sunday, Elder Randall K. Bennett of the Seventy was speaking. After referencing President Nelson's comments: "If you think the Church has been fully restored, you're just seeing the beginning" and "Eat your vitamin pills. Get some rest. It's going to be exciting." He said, jokingly: There's a rumor that they are installing seat belts in the Conference Center in preparation for next April's conference. I'm curious if others are hearing similar comments from general authorities in your areas. Given the above (and assuming it isn't only happening in my area), I imagine we'll have lots of guessing and rumors about "big announcements" in the lead up to April General Conference. This is starting to seem like we're living in a Multi Level Marketing hype machine church. Get everyone excited about whats next and that way people won't focus on the current problems that need to be addressed. A distractionary tactic of sorts. I guess this is really built into the traditions of religion from the beginning, the imminent eschatology warnings were a big part of early Mormonism. I think we have pressing problems that need focus, and we need more than just window dressing and chair rearranging, we need substantive and principled leadership. While I've heard there's a big rumor of a doctrine explaining gender, I'm not sure there's any formal basis on that. (Although heaven knows we need one to explain a lot of things) I'm not sure what other doctrines might be coming beyond questions on gender, spirits and perhaps marriage. I sure hope you are wrong on this. I hope the church doesn't try to declare official doctrine on gender. I have no confidence they will get this anywhere right, and it will just be painful for the transgender community. Please no.....

Here the Church views her as a woman so two women living together is no biggie. The Trans woman though apparently doesn't feel comfortable in RS or EQ, so who knows

True story from my home stake where I grew up: There was a woman in a small branch who was given the calling to bring bread for the sacrament every week. In her humble desire to magnify her calling, she started to get more loving, involved, and creative. The congregation had raisin bread, cinnamon bread, and even lemon pound cake for sacrament! This poor branch president eventually had to tell the sweet old sister that she needed to be a bit more basic in her bread choices. 3

Jeanne Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 When I was primary age, two tiny wards that were later combined fought over the paper and plastic water cups...there was a war on which was best. We had the paper cups the other ward had the plastic cups...at recess we teased them by going...crinkle ...crinkle..crinkle on the noise the plastic ones made...when we combined the wards...needless to say...it took awhile..to make that all work.😋 2

Perhaps god - the master of the universe - might not be as concerned about what a small fraction of humans do on a small planet in one unremarkable galaxy. Perhaps god - who loves our agency - is concerned about us, but he fully trusts men to lead men, and does not reveal much or anything to LDS leaders. Perhaps god - who loves all his children - talks to other leaders of other churches, but not the LDS church because we have become too exclusive and have strayed from His will. It is hard to comprehend how you see that either God talks to the Mormon leaders, or does not exist at all. That logic does not make sense? 2 Yeah, maybe you did not really grasp what was stated. Instead of focusing on your own agenda, please just read what Stemmelbow stated - "The humans who lead, their perspective and imagination is exactly what drives the Church's position, practice and doctrine, and certainly that changes." Humans that lead - there is no qualification of what organization is led - they just are leaders. Now the most important part of what he said - it is not that God inspires humans, but their perspective and imagination. It is not worth attempting to converse on your points; just not worth my time. Cheers

I’m a very black and white kind of thinker, and that view of yours is just too much for me.

Thanks, -Smac Well Smac I am happy that you think these things are big deals. I am not surprised. Only True Believing Mormons would view these as important or significant. For a Church that claims it has the Prophet of God for the world, well this stuff really is pablum...
