It reeks of hatred and anger and rage. It is dark. The Church will weather this and move ahead, and I am glad of that. As for Mr. Glenn (having plainly removed himself from fellowship and turned against the Saints, I'll acknowledge his choice and refer to him as "Mr." rather than "Brother"), I am saddened and fear for him. Thanks, -Smac Is it really tough for you to see the world from someone else's view. Take off the "I have the absolute truth" for a minute. do you know anything about Tyler Glenn? Personally I found the music video profoundly distasteful. But I have empathy for how the man may be expressing profound sadness, grief and yes anger as well. 5

I believe the 1890 manafeso is a prime example of the church being pressured to behave in a manner inconsistent with its long-held doctrine. The congress of the United States spoke and the church caved. Because of this I hold out hope that they will reverse this hurtful and unfortunate policy. You don't punish innocent children for the alleged misdeeds of their parents. That's Christianity 101. 4

Just curious, how do you feel about the church excommunicating those who are in a polygamous marriage? What about group marriage, which is probably the next stage? Does marriage hold any significance in the doctrines of the LDS church, according to your view. How exactly is calling sin by its rightful name "unkind"? Edited April 30, 2016 by cdowis

Is it really your presumption that unless something is in the New Testament that Jesus never said it or revealed it? Or that the New Testament contains every word Jesus ever uttered or caused to be uttered? If so, what do you make of this closing passage in the gospel of John? 25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. 1

But we do know that he has revealed His word on the subject through His latter-day prophets. 1

I can understand his anger..and like Tacenda, wish it could be expressed as well in the video as it was in MS. But he doesn't have to resign..or wait to be exed. The church left him in the dust last October. This time, they are accountable for his complete disaffection and the leaving of many others. The Church is not responsible for the decisions or actions of others. Nobody will be able to stand before the Lord at judgement and say "It was the fault of the Church because of X that I left." That might be their reason but the Lord is not going to accept it as a good excuse. 1
carbon dioxide Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 5 hours ago, Jeanne said: How can you say that Scott? Since the policy last fall, the church has lost a lot of members. Shortly before the policy there was a step taken to open the bridge and better understanding between the gays and LDS. The church is accountable this time. Yes it has lost members. The question is then what of it. If people leave the Church for reasons of gay issues, they did not have a strong testimony anyway. It if was not the gay issue, they would fall by something else.

If you can't (and you can't) then it's fair to say that Jesus was silent on this subject First, the New Testament is hardly a daily diary of the teachings of Jesus. Perhaps 1% of all the words that Jesus spoke during those 3 years are written down. Even 1% is probably far off the mark. How many words do you speak over a 3 year period? Second, one can run off an almost endless list of issues that Jesus never spoke about. Necrophilia for example is not mentioned by Jesus. Should we take that to mean that Jesus could have been for it? 1

What people do to us or what the Church does is not relevant. It is how we handle the trial. All the people who leave fail their test.
