I prefer a more sopisticated dark lyrics and a melody with a hook to it such as Sympaty for the Devil. by the Rolling Stones or Darkness Darkness by the Youngbloods. Perhaps it's just generational. I'm not a huge fan of the musical style either. Not really my cup of tea. I can't fault the raw emotion that's in there though. He's hurt and angry, that's clear. For sophisticated dark lyrics you should give french "folk punk rap" band, Louise Attaque a go. Helps if you speak French, but you'll get the idea:
