Can I just say I'm in NYC with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, I'm at my first Major League Baseball game (Yankees vs the Rays) and it's about to go into extra innings?

Welcome to my favorite city in the world, the center of the universe!

Say hello to Washington Square for me.  I used to live there.

Definitely different than Utah.  ;)

Awesome, Scott!  Hope you enjoy your trip! :)

The choir at Carnegie Hall last night, Yankees baseball today, I bought my iconic "I love New York" T-shirt today from a street vendor, gave a couple bucks to some street musicians on the subway) they were really good), saw a Broadway musical the other night, ate New York cheesecake on Time Square and have been buying Big Macs at McDonald's on Broadway. Does it get any better than this?

Edited to add:

After 12 innings, New York prevailed 7 to 5 in a come-from-behind victory.

The Yankees are my new favorite team.

Making me homsick! I grew up in Stuyvesant Town (14th and Avenue C), went to PS 61 on 12th Street... Would wander all over the Lower East Side (with and without parental supervision). Contrary to popular belief, it was a safe, friendly place to grow up! If you knew what you were doing! LOL But I do think that people create their own small towns wherever they live.

No way!

I got mugged walking home from Astor Place, around midnight and found out to never do that again. ;) I lived right on the square in student housing.

But you are right, if you know what you are doing, it's the best place to live in the world. You want Greek food at 4 am,there will be a choice of places within walking distance, or anything else you want any time of day.

Being a tourist can be a different story, because you don't know the rules.

It changes the old saying into "It's a great place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there!" ;)

Hello Scott...

Thank you for sharing your picture!!  I absolutely love it when board members share pictures of themselves so that we can put a face with the name of the person we have read and communicated with on the Board...

Glad you have been having a wonderful time... How was the Choir's performance at Carnegie Hall?  Warmly received?

Hey I used to deliver food to Hunts Point, does that count? I rolled through all the stops signs so no one would jump on my truck. By the way I'm an Angel fan, see you soon

The Yankees are my new favorite team.

As I've been a Red Sox fan my entire life, I find this most disappointing. You, sir, are a damned heretic with an ungodly soul.

Having said that...have fun, be safe and visit the East Village and the Bronx.

In New York and not eating bagels?  Blasphemy!

I've often heard tell of how rude and nasty New Yorkers are. Having spent nine days there, I've got to say I didn't see any of that. Even the strange looking people I encountered on Time Square were nice.

Very warmly.

Got to ask: Do I look anything like you imagined me?

You and sethpayne and Daniel Peterson, all rabid anti-Yanks. What is it with you guys?

The Yankees are like the Kardashians.  Nobody really likes them but folks keep watching anyway.

Now, when you are ready to open your heart, make your way up to Seattle.  The Mariners play in a Stadium where fans are much more likely to be burned by hot, freshly brewed, Starbucks coffee, than being hit by a foul ball.  Yankee Stadium is more like a controlled prison riot with popcorn and overpriced hot dogs.

Passed by here every day to/from school... Alpha Bet Cafe used to be Ya-Ya's Cafe, the grocery didn't say "East Village" in front of it; Medilane's Drugs used to be Friedel's Drugstore (good egg cremes)... roll to the image across the street, Brothers was always Brothers!!!--but had a pizza-by-the-slice window...
