Thank you both so much for your concern.    I haven't the slightest idea what my circumstances will be or how they might change today, tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year, where I might find myself, or what might take me there. It's ironic you should mention Oregon.  I have a friend who went to law school in Florida, then moved to Oregon to practice; now she's in Utah.  She's a nice girl, but we (primarily she, to her great credit) long ago decided that we have irreconcilable differences.  As for California, as the location of the Best Mission in the World , it will always hold a special place in my heart.  (Again, I don't know what might take me back there for more than a visit, but never say never! )

What kind of law do you practice? I could see if anyone at our firm has any leads. You could make a vacation/job hunt/check out the local sisters excursion.

 That was my friend, Dear, not me!  I am certified as a paralegal (CP) by the National Association of Legal Assistants, Cert. No. 153595, Exp. Sept. 2015.  (I might cop to going to law school, but depending on my audience, it might not win me any prestige points ... )  Alas, so far, law has been a hobby of mine ...  A very expensive hobby!  (I wouldn't mind taking an excursion ...  A change of scenery's always nice ...)  If I actually got a job there, my friend might kill me, though: "I went to Florida and you begged me to come to Utah, I went to Oregon and you begged me to come to Utah, now you tell me you're goin' to Oregon?!!

oh man, I live in Canada and where I am is a serious dearth of women, like my age, 35! Mind you I  think I may have this one person that I have less then zero interest giving me unwanted attention, I pray for a wife and I get all this, where's the justice

At one point in time, I would have counseled my daughters to only marry an RM, however, that doesn't mean anything now.  The prevalence of RM's getting into porn is staggering.  A recent study showed that 56% of male and 28% of female Christians have a problem with pornography.  I read an article with an LDS family counselor who said that 1:3 referrals to LDS counseling are for pornography.  Joseph Smith said that sexual sin would be the biggest cause for the downfall of the priesthood in the last days.

Totally un PC but you can rescue a damsel in distress from the forces of darkness by marrying outside the church. If she loves you she'll learn to love Christ. I think eternal marriage should not be a box to check so you can get to the CK. It's more of a lifetime accomplishment. There is nothing wrong with being married for time until the time is right to make the eternal commitment. In JS time everyone was a convert.

It's neither a thing to do to get to the CK or an accomplishment.  In this life, it is a way to live, which changes you and helps you become more Christlike.

Well!  I don't know about anyone else, but "a recent [unsourced] study," "an article with [sic; what does 'with' mean, anyway?  That your unnamed LDS family counselor was quoted in the article?  that said counselor wrote the article?  usually, when it comes to authorship, "with" is used to denote a minor author or someone who played a lesser role in a particular publication than someone else who is listed first ...] an [unnamed] LDS family counselor," and an unsourced statement attributed to Joseph Smith?  That's good enough for me, folks!  QED!

It might be interesting to start a new thread about the male / female  numbers.   It might be similar to the percentage of scripture that is  based on actions of male vs female.

I'm betting the men are mentioned more because they are in more trouble and women weren't allowed to speak much.

I did not think about it exactly that way.   I was thinking about how history does record more actions of the men.  My guess is that it is closer to 50/50 about how things really got done and get down now.   Not looking for a fight on this one,   Its interesting how we as a ppl record things in the past as mostly from and by men.   And then on this board it is suggested that the board is dominated by men (I don't actually know the true data).

 

Is there a correlation,  if yes why.   Its all about the why.   What do you think about it ?

I was fascinated with Judaism from a very early age so I wanted to marry a Jewish fella.Someone unorthodox enough to marry me and yet practicing enough to teach our children his faith.

 

Didn't happen. My husband is an adult convert (from Catholicism) and we met about 3 months after he was baptized. He was in my home ward and I moved home to finish school some place where I could afford college without my parent's paying for tuition or student loans.

I agree with her, but there are plenty of RMs who don't even get so much as a sniff.  (I'm not any better than anyone else who did [or did not] serve, or did not serve a proselyting mission, or came home early-but-honorably, or who came home early-and-not-honorably-but-repented, and so on.)  I'm just saying that while RM-hood may have been the magic talisman that guaranteed one a full social calendar upon one's return in her world, tain't necessarily so everywhere else.

I once thought about becoming a paralegal.  I prayed about it and got a HIGHLY negative response from the Spirit.  Very unexpected, as I thought the Spirit would love me becoming Perry Mason, Jr.  So I became a computer programmer instead.  This turns out to have been a very good move.
