Kind of like a Rorschach test. We see what we want to see. 1
Popular Post The Nehor Posted February 18, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 18, 2014 I thought it was written to subtly depict the West's oppression of beautiful North Korea and their glorious leader. 6
ALarson Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Consider the source. I agree. Too bad this blog post is getting the attention it is (it's being discussed on several forums). It's not well written and it is not a good representation of how most members feel or reason. Hopefully the majority of those who read it will recognize this. As far as the movie goes, I enjoyed it and I can't say that about too many kid's movies these days.
Danzo Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) If it's a hidden message, they did a good job hiding it; it is too well hidden for me to see. Edited February 18, 2014 by Danzo 1
Mystery Meat Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I watched the movie and enjoyed it. It was until after that I heard rumblings (from people within the lesbian community) that it was a story about a girl coming out. I can see how it would be interpreted that way. Quite frankly I don't care if that is what Disney, the writers, and actors all wanted to convey. I can go and watch it and have it be a story about an ice princess who felt trapped in her world without taking a second thought about what the super secret real agenda is. Having said that, had Disney made the movie to be about an actual girl coming out, I wouldn't have seen it.
jkwilliams Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Speaking of hidden messages, that blog post was so poorly written I kept looking for the point to be reached, but none was forthcoming. Absolutely awful writing doesn't help crazy. 1
Buckeye Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I wonder if Sister Skaggs is aware of the "hidden theme" espoused by the Church's own newspaper: Christian themes in Disney's hit 'Frozen' (http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865595512/Christian-themes-found-in-Disneys-hit-Frozen.html?pg=all) "The Christian message is that people are sinners and have these broken relationships and that Christ comes and takes on the punishment for that sin, dies a death that he didn’t deserve, and then is resurrected and then brings reconciliation through people,"... 1
Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 That movie was about gay people? Who knew?

Maybe (if she's serious about pursuing her writing), she should take a creative writing course or something similar to help her express herself in a better manner. I haven't read anything else that she's written, so maybe this is just a poor example. As far as a gay agenda in Frozen, I didn't see it. I guess you can find anything if you're looking for it.
Buckeye Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Frozen is a secret tool for the gay-rights agenda in the same way that The Book of Mormon Musical is a secret missionary tool. 2

When I went home for lunch, I mentioned this to my oldest daughter, who was just as puzzled as I am. Gay agenda? Where? Part of me thinks the reason that the writing was so disjointed and incoherent is that it was masking a real point or real evidence of anything. But that's just a guess. Terrible writing, anyway. But what do I know?

As for me, I am indifferent either way.
ALarson Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 But what do I know? That's funny coming from you I thoroughly enjoyed your book and your blog is one of best.
jkwilliams Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 That's funny coming from you I thoroughly enjoyed your book and your blog is one of best. Thank you! I was remembering that someone here once opined that I'm a boring writer. I can take anything, but not boring. I'm glad you liked the book. I've been really pleased with its reception. It makes me happy that it resonated with people across the Mormon spectrum.

As for me, I am indifferent either way. The only thing my daughter and I could think of was the theme in the movie that it's OK to be who you are, no matter what other people think. Does that apply to gay people? Sure, but it applies to pretty much everyone alive on the planet.
JulieM Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Oh my, what a jumbled mess....but I actually struggled through that entire blog post. I wish she had just stated her bullet points in the beginning instead of rambling on about nothing for so long. I have to believe that most won't make it through the entire thing without just resorting to skimming it.She states that she is "A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons)" who "loves using social media to share her faith online." My first thought after reading her latest blog entry was "oh please, stop sharing!" I actually loved the movie "Frozen" and the messages I found and felt as I watched it. Could some of them apply to those who are gay? Of course! They apply to everyone.

altersteve Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I can see how the song "Let It Go" can be interpreted as a song about coming out, but other than that, I'm lost.

Having just seen the movie, they were telling me about how beautiful, touching and uplifting the movie was. Without betraying a knowledge of the movie's ultimate theme and message, I queried them about the movie that touched them so deeply. As they rehearsed the plot, favorite scenes, and ultimate message of the movie, an open-mouthed look of stunned amazement suddenly came over the face of one of the girls as she realized she and her friends and been duped by a very skillfully produced piece of cinematic propaganda. The movie made abortion and abortionists seem noble, compassionate and necessary.Though I haven't seen Frozen as yet (and probably won't see it), it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if there is some subtle anti-Gospel message skillfully packaged within the film. Especially in light of the fact that the song writers for this movie also wrote the music for the play "The Book of Mormon." Edited February 19, 2014 by teddyaware
california boy Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I can only hope she is right. But I am doubting it. To be fair, I haven't seen the movie. But her ramblings were incoherent at best. The only thing I could think of was the churches campaign, "Dare to be different" when I was growing up. I guess now Mormons freak out about being different. Makes sense, I guess.
canard78 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 "Well behaved mormon woman" - who would call themselves this? Surely it's a spoof/fake blog? It sounds like those joke twitter accounts who pretend to be a celebrity.
