Popular Post rodheadlee Posted January 1 Popular Post Posted January 1 My adopted son. Michael is in the ICU and not doing well. I'm 700 miles away and can't get there till Friday. Please don't let him die until I get there. 6
manol Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Prayers for your son! One of my unorthodox beliefs is that actual physical contact or proximity is not required to bless someone. Another is that anyone who is a disciple of Jesus Christ can bless someone in his name without needing to claim any other authority than that. Not trying to thread-derail; just mentioning what I think are possible options. And I absolutely believe in the increased power of multiple souls united in prayer or prayerful intent regardless of the formats used, so thank you for inviting us. Edited January 1 by manol 2
rodheadlee Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Back in the early 1990s we used to live in the shadow of the Las Vegas Temple. Patty and I and Mike and his brother lived there with that other folks lived there too if they were homeless and in need. Anyways one day Mike got a nail in his eye from nailing Hardware on at the job site. I had this big old red Cadillac that somebody had giving me up on their death. I yelled at him not to pull the nail out threw him in the Cadillac and we broke every speed limit and ran every red light on the way to the hospital. So about a week later when he couldn't sleep and he was in major pain I read the book of Mormon to him all night until he fell asleep. The funny thing is Mike is a Catholic. My wife and I couldn't get Temple recommends due to word of wisdom problems but we would sit in the grass next to the temple and read our scriptures and bask in the glow of the Holy Spirit emanating from there. Anyone that doesn't believe in demons and Satan I can tell you they are wrong because one night the Angel of the Lord fought Satan over my soul. They rode horseback and used swords. If the Angel of the Lord did not win I wouldn't be here to this day. 4
Dario_M Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Woow really? What happend with your son if i may be so free to ask? If you don't wanna tell it's okay. Prayers for your son anyway. May God send his angeles to your son to cure him. 🫂

rpn Posted January 2 Posted January 2 You can input the address of the hospital into "meetinghouse locator" in any search engine, and identify his congregation and contact his bishop so someone can go give him a blessing. Prayers from here. 2
Rain Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I hope you made it or are about to and he is doing better. ❤️ 1
rodheadlee Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 Okay thanks for the prayers. Michael passed away early this morning. I almost made it there in time. But I did get to tell him I loved him on the phone. 3

Tacenda Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I'm so sorry, I can't imagine you and your wonderful wife's suffering with the loss. I'm sure it's helpful to know the gospel and have the knowledge that your son is in a good place. Hugs to you and your family. 3

So when you said you almost made it there, does that mean you are there now or you had an opportunity that didn’t work out? Will there be family around for you and Patty (assuming she went as well, but recall she may have health issues preventing travel…though now I am thinking maybe it was an acute illness and not chronic you mentioned a few months ago iirc)? Thank goodness you were able to make a connection with Michael to say goodbye, though I suspect your soul is wistful for a hug from him. 2

I left work at 6:30 p.m. up in Eureka and it was 700 miles down to Corona where Mike was in the hospital. I only drove till midnight and got a hotel room and was going to try to see him today when I got in. Since he passed away I took my sweet time driving the rest of the way. 4
Popular Post rodheadlee Posted January 3 Author Popular Post Posted January 3 Yeah it was kind of a miracle I got through to him on the telephone. No one else had been able to and I called his cell phone instead of the hospital then he actually answered. We just talked for a few minutes I told him that Patty and I loved him. Thank you all for your kind words and your prayers 5

rodheadlee Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Arrrrgh. We lost another one today.Mt best friend will pass away at any moment. He has been a memory care for about a year I guess. His son texted me that he would be transitioning sometime this week and not regain consciousness. More prayers please thank you. His son does belong to the church and their entire family or church members on the wife's side. So all the temple work will get done. 2
