rodheadlee Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I haven't been to church in 5 years. I don't have much to choose from. My typical go to church shirts are 200 miles away on the boat. I have a lot of long sleeve T shirts or a Hawaiian shirt. I have a dress shirt that is a terrible color for my skin tone. I really want to go this morning. 2
Tacenda Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 GO anyway! I remember being on vacation at a lake and going to church in clothing that I worried about and sitting in the cultural hall that is connected to the chapel and it was a good choice. And then seeing a lot of people the same way. Also in my very LDS part of Utah, a ward member always wore Hawaiian shirts and even sported an earring in one ear, and the ward welcomed him each week, almost like a sight for sore eyes because all we ever see is a white shirt and tie.
Popular Post bluebell Posted July 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 9, 2023 Wear the hawaiian shirt, people will love it. 5
Popular Post Raingirl Posted July 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 9, 2023 If women can wear colorful floral dresses, why can’t a guy wear a Hawaiian shirt? 🤷♀️ 6
Popular Post rodheadlee Posted July 9, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted July 9, 2023 Okay. I'm going right now. If you hear of an earthquake in So Cal, you'll know that it's my fault. 8

I really want to go this morning. Wear what you want. It might be better to wear a long sleeve tshirt that is solid in color and no graphics if you are nervous, but go in what works for you. I was nervous about bringing a camping chair to church (my back can’t handle the pews) and still am not that comfortable hauling it in and setting it up, but I get a big smile from the bishop and others are very happy to see me there. Most members in my experience care about others enough that it is more important to them that the person is there than what the person is wearing. Edited July 9, 2023 by Calm 1
Popular Post rodheadlee Posted July 9, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted July 9, 2023 Well the roof didn't cave in. I just stayed for Sacrament because Patti couldn't go. Next time I'll bring her and we'll stay for Sunday school lesson. I guess I need to get caught up on what we're studying from and where we are in the study. Thanks for all the comments. 6
MustardSeed Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 If Utah white guys can wear lava lavas, you’re good. 😇🤪 3

If you download the gospel library app the Come Follow Me Sunday School lessons are dated (New Testament this year). Also, if your ward updates it then it may have the RS lessons listed. 3

Pyreaux Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 As long as they don't expect you to pass the sacrament, you should be fine. Go the extra mile, tuck it in and put a tie on it. I discovered ties go well with most anything that has a collar, I've sported a tie with a colorful polo shirt.
Derl Sanderson Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Wear it and come sit with me in my rural Utah ward and when some dope takes to the stand who has just visited or come home from a mission to Hawaii and begins his talk with "ALOHA!" and expects the entire congregation of farmer/ranchers to respond in kind, at least you'll have more cred than me when you yell "SHUT UP" in response! 3
