The Grooming Epidemic is Spreading

You do know that the 80 year old ‘victim’ picked that fight right? She thought the employee’s voice was too masculine and demanded the employee share information about their genitalia and then started the whole thing by screaming transphobic slurs?

If I saw a grown man in a changing room with women and girls, I'd get angry too.

Citing a tabloid like the Mail does not help your case.

The Church used to tell me not to read certain sources.

Was an 80 yr old woman assaulted for objecting to having a penis in the woman's changing room at a public pool?  Yes or no?

Ahhh, the good old alarmist, slippery-slope, argument. Chicken Little has nothing on the anti-LGBT crowd.

Um, I left the Church because I support gay marriage.

Gender extremism is hurting lesbians, women, and girls.

The funny thing to me is someone posting their acknowledgment that they adhere to a textbook fallacy.

What are you talking about?

I support the rights of gays, lesbians, women, and girls.

I’m just saying that a tabloid is unlikely to present the whole story. I would lose credibility (assuming I had some) if I tried to make a point about the church by quoting the National Enquirer.

You literally posted a meme with the slippery slope fallacy. I don’t really care what side you’re on; it’s not a good idea to post fallacies.

Well that sure isn't obvious from your choice in memes.

No.

She started screaming about how evil the person was and started a protest and then she recast herself as the victims when people came to the actual victim’s defense. Then she went into histrionics because her choice to harass someone ended up having social consequences.

Not a man.

Mate, as Elder Maxwell accurately prophesied, the brave new orthodoxy will brook no dissent. Either get in line or be prepared to be endlessly dog-piled by the friendly neighbourhood inquisitors.

People who strongly dislike the LGBT community intend to make the public believe that non-binary Americans are actively trying to harm their children ...

I offer that this price is too high for whatever culture warriors think they're getting from this.

You appear to have a politically informed blind spot. The girls I wrote about above were not culture warriors, nor did they 'strongly dislike the LGBT community'. They and their classmates were, however, genuinely being harmed by the LGBTQ-linked/produced curriculum in their school, which was overly sexualised and clearly driven by a radical agenda. (The lead curriculum designer is a trans 'man' who can be found on YouTube proclaiming that no one will be truly liberated until all family obligations are utterly abolished.)

Their complaints and those of others eventually resulted in an inquiry by a tripartisan parliamentary committee. The two 'progressive' members from the government coalition could never bring themselves to openly admit that the curriculum was harmful to children, but the committee nevertheless unanimously recommended that it be replaced with a generic anti-bullying program instead. End of problem -- and a solution that never would have occurred if people had merely dismissed schoolchildren's legitimate concerns as something dreamt up by dreaded 'conservatives'.

The point I'm trying to make is that this trans nonsense has literally caused the dire predictions of folks like @smac97come true. Gays and lesbians were just fine.  Marriage in place.  More and more acceptance.  And then gender trend came along and blew the whole thing up.

It isn't a coincidence that a decline for "LGBT" rights began precisely when trans trenders started to appear.

I'm a recovering conservative speaking from that conservative perspective.

I don't know who you wrote about. I'm in FL, writing among some of the nation's highest visibility culture insurgents.

I know; I get it. I'm nowhere near that context, either geographically or culturally.

But as I repeatedly told my alternative high school students, 'Don't miss something truly important just because you don't like the people who are saying it'.

No.

Can we call that piece Slider? I felt Slider's 4chan art practically assaulted us with it's inherent superiority. It couldn't have been more powerful if Pepe himself delivered the message.

Yes, she was harassing a transgender woman who did nothing to disturb anyone and then gathered a posse to protest. Then she got butthurt when counterprotestors showed up and pretended she was in physical danger.

A stereotypical Karen. Ban all Karens!

The political right in the US is trying to split the LGBT+ community. They bought out the TERF movement to do it. The TERFs were always jerks but outside of their weird views on transgender people they were pro-feminism and pro-LGB rights. With the new management they are just there to sow discord and split the movement. For an avowed pro-LGBT person you sure do love to broadcast the propaganda of our enemies.

The people most often saying it here are doing as chum says IMHO. The context points to it. It’s not being used as a neutral term but a negative suspicion/assumption that’s quite often hyperbolic. It’s pointing out every last little misstep or point of discomfort and blowing it out of proportion. There have been more than one high profile conservative who’s made statements directly tying the word grooming to the context of sexualizing children when discussing lgbtq+ Topics in schools and other settings. This articles shares a few examples of just that.

I’m not going to question your example for the same reasons chum won’t. I don’t know the context. The cultural framework or the details of the event or material in question. But as you mentioned, you’re also not that close currently to ours.

Before boxing me in, here’s my general angle: I’m pretty dang liberal, but come from a more conservative family and live in a pretty conservative area. I do regularly seek out and listen to conservative perspectives to understand them. I think there are a few concerns or moves that have some valid points. BUT I also find many more points based out of fear and perceived attack on their life that is extremely off-putting at best and repressive/demonizing at worst. We (US) currently are in a cultural stratification that leans towards extreme solutions, ideas, and reactions. Chum is based in one of these hotbeds for this cultural stratification in the US. His context is very different from that schoolroom likely half a world away from him. It would likely be good to listen carefully to him as well when he describes what he sees.

your advice to your students is good. I would add to it though from my context of career…be cautious of jumping in and siding with one side when you don’t know the full story of what’s happening in their world and with the other partner.

with luv,

You might or would be proud of the school district in Utah that banned a ton of books and many had LGBTQ themes or titles:

If you think it is only the political right who sees the danger of gender ideology, this Scottish lesbian would like to have a word with you:

Also, pay attention to what is happening in the UK.  Tavistock being shut down.  Law suits starting up.  Let's hope the same comes to the US soon.

Book bannings are the only way to ensure liberty and freedom of thought.

Should we include the Turner Diaries in middle school or high school libraries?

It's a tricky subject that too many groups hijack for their own personal reasons.

For most people, book bannings are bad, until it's a book that they personally believe is detrimental/inappropriate to a child.  Then suddenly removing a book from a public school library is the sensible option.

The real problem isn't that some books are banned.  It's that people disagree on which books that should be.
