In my day we had whippits and we liked them.

Had to look that one up.  Figured it wasn’t the dog, though I have heard they make great pets.

Americans ...  Footballers (which is what wrote) play rugby.

I think you've missed the entire point of 'Pride' then.

Have you seen how many flags the LGBT community has? There are a lot of different teams. The only practical difference between bisexuals, pansexuals, and omnisexuals is the flag. LOTS OF TEAMS!

I have!

Yet it can never be enough ... even when accompanied by 'the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick'.

Ha! Yes, I can think of some very dramatic ways and as long as it's consensual why not make it public, right?! ; ) And way to pull out the "don't judge me for my principles" martyrdom card! Good grief. "As long as it's a special event and not TOO often" - oh you principled man you... ; )

Are you trying to hurt my feelings? I am not emotionally tied to these principles. I off-handedly suggested that stuff like the antics at pride should be restricted by time and place so that those who do not wish to participate won’t blunder into it. You are treating this as some kind of perverse license. Go nuts but if you expect me to wring my hands and protest that I am as virtuous as you are for this position you are aiming poorly.

I like pride events. I find them important for the fractious LGBT community that has a tendency to infighting. I think they are very important now. Plus they are fun.

The witch thing was a joke, not a martyrdom thing. If I wanted to go full martyr I would launch into a melodramatic soliloquy about how oppressed I am and how people like me are always excluded and driven out:

Oh woe is me! Why must the depraved and immoral such as myself be mocked by our virtuous betters? Why does our debased and deviant nature drive us into the wilderness? And so on and so forth.

Those are all the same.

I meant the different flags.

I don’t know what half of these mean.

edit: Probably more accurate to say I am not sure what a quarter of them mean.

Likely a typo for 1890.  Did you really not realize that?

I was thinking they meant 1909, which is more accurate.

Whippets are inhalants. Similar to poppers.

You aren’t conversant with recreational inhalants?

Are you some kind of Mormon or something?

Not conversant with the nicknames, no…

Some kind of something…

Surprisingly, drugs are not something discussed much at family gatherings and my grandkids haven’t shared what is talked about at school and they would be my only pipeline for that type of gossip.

You did the wrong thing Smac.

The pictures should have been left up.  Why?  So that everyone can absolutely see with clear eyes where this is headed.  For all of CB's protesting . . .he protests too much.

He knows it, you know it, I know it where this is headed.

Love is Love!!!!!!!!

Which is really saying "sex is sex".  The whole LGBTQETC movement is all about sex, having sex, thinking sex, doing sex with whoever, whenever, however, whereever.  No rules, no bounds; a complete free for all orgy.

Those pictures are a PERFECT representation of where it is all headed.  And the sooner naive members get their heads out of the sand and figure this out the better.  Naive members simply say "love is love", "be kind", "respect" and the enemy has simply used those words as an insidious injection of rot into the system and it will rot out the entire system.

You see it evident in the arguments made from the pro-LGBTQETC movement, how often they evade direct questions, how often they say things like well if someone wants to do it that's fine . . .it's okay as long as their is "consent". Which is a bull-crap way of saying, as long as we can CONVINCE someone to do it-it's okay.

No morals, no rules, nothing godly, just an entire circle of suck.  CB and the others simply do not want the deep dark underbelly exposed and they rage and nash with their teeth once it is exposed.

One day brother, one day, a reckoning is coming and do you know what that reckoning will be?

One day the deepest, darkest underbelly will be exposed about how 2 men (or 2 women) living together taking in children is really a high-powered mechanism for child sexual abuse.  The highest rates of incident of child abuse occur between non-blood related parental figures and children . . . One day it will be exposed how much sexual abuse there is between the non-blood related partners in homosexual relationships and the children under their care.  But of course, everyone will rage against this comment and call me all sorts of horrible names.

One day . . . just wait the reckoning will happen.

What an annoying thread. "I'm tolerant of gays, but look at the terrible, horrible things they do! And now they're trying to force us all to support their perverted ways!"

Gay pride isn't about creating a sexual free-for-all or grooming kids or compelling speech. It's about being able to stand up and say I'm not going to hide who I am anymore. I'm not going to be ashamed. I'm not going to live in the shadows because society has marginalized and demonized people like me for centuries. It is precisely because of the stigma and shame that gay pride parades exist. If you don't get that, fine, but spare us your couch-swooning virtue signaling. Don't go to pride parades. And sure, go ahead and look down on those who do support pride events. Sure, some pride events are not kid-friendly, and parents ought to be wise about it. I wouldn't advise taking the family to the Folsom Street Fair, for instance. These companies who are "compelling speech" are really just saying, "We accept you and love you for who you are." Apparently that's a terrible thing.

As for normalizing kink, when you spend decades feeling guilt and shame over an insignificant sexual interest, it actually does help to know you're not alone, you're not some kind of evil deviant, and it really is OK. I get it that many here think it isn't OK, that people like me should be ashamed of our sexuality and kinks. Frankly, if done correctly, a pride parade should be giant middle finger to such folks. I'll raise mine, anyway.

Exactly, you prove the point.

What your really want is the moral authority to declare that you can have sex whenever however with whoever, and whatever, i.e. "kink" and as long as there is "consent" it really is OK.

Thank you for proving my point.

I wrongly thought poppers were a (butyl based?) industrial solvent - like what's used in PVC cement. That's because we couldn't afford internet during the Carter admin.

Just looked it up and poppers are an old angina med. Well, dang. I wouldn't have been so spooked if I had known that.

If those horrible names turn out to be things like wildly misinformed or toxically ignorant, I suggest the following. Limit your sources of CSA info to the authoritative NGOs and LEO agencies that collect/compile child sex abuse data.

Recreational inhalants?  Hell, now that Marijuana is legal everywhere, for anything, at any time, for any reason, why bother with the "light" stuff?

As far as cannabis laws go, I'm pretty glad we rolled those laws back. It turned out that inflicting (typically) lifelong revenge was more evil than helpful. Shock, huh?

If we want to reduce recreational drug (alcohol, etc) use, we have options besides devastating entire families.

It's not about moral authority. I don't particularly want to have sex with anyone whenever and however, but I do want to be allowed to exist without being marginalized, despised, and discriminated against. Pride parades exist because a lot of LGBTQ people believe it's better to be dead than to be who they are. I've known my share of gay LDS men who have killed themselves for that reason. We have pride parades so they know that life is worth living, that there's no reason to hate yourself like that. We don't have them because we want to have orgies on every street corner.

I realize my first post was a bit crabby (early morning before caffeine), so I apologize for that.

If you feel the need to apologize that is fine, you still revealed the true nature of this.

So you are telling me that if someone doesn't agree with you or even if society doesn't agree with you that it is appropriate to kill oneself?

I utterly reject your emotional blackmail. It is not my fault nor societies fault that LGBTQ kill themselves and I refuse to be emotionally manipulated by such tactics.

Let's see if you really are true to your belief that you profess.

If society says that sexual relations with dogs is inappropriate and those who want or desire relationships with dogs now kill themselves, should society then acquiesce to those demands?

What if it is stealing, a huge group of thieves start killing themselves because society says stealing is wrong do we now allow stealing?

There has not be enough research into cannabis to say this definitely, though the risk is likely quite low.  And there has been at least one death due to dehydration and kidney failure as a result of regular cannabis use ( https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/326357 ).   But cannabis impairs judgment and motor skills and those can kill you if you are stupid enough to drive under the influence or do something else dangerous.  And it can result in significant apathy, which may cause one to neglect oneself or others, so there are risks to using it.

Plus cannabis caused illnesses can be significant…

Quote

In 2014, Colorado became one of the first states to legalize cannabis for recreational use. Since then, it has seen a significant rise in the number of emergency room visits related to marijuana use.

However, before legalization, people experiencing adverse symptoms due to smoking weed might not have visited an emergency room due to the illegal nature of the substance.

A recent report in Missouri Medicine found that some of the more common illnesses connected to marijuana use have also increased in Colorado since legalization. These include:

cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS)

acute psychosis

cannabinoid catatonia syndrome

acute myopericarditis
